Good progress.

Not sure if this is a silly question... but because your ECU, AFM, turbo, injectors, cams etc. are all remaining, will you need to get a new tune?

(but you'll obviously get one eventually to ramp up boost and break 300kw)

Super spaghetti manifold :P Brae does some awesome work ;)

A bit better than my other china manifold :/

Even though its heat coated I will also heat wrap it, and maybe also put a heat shield over it

Probably isn't really necessary. Since all supporting mods are essentially the same.

Will still be doing a re-tune though.

Previously made 280rwkw. 20 psi dropping down to ~16psi.

Have now got a stronger actuator off Stao and have been advised that the max psi prob is ~23psi.

So will be going for 23psi and hoping only a few psi drop off at redline.

In saying all this with the amount of work done to the head I have been advised that my engine might be too much for my little turbo. Something about the engine overspeeding the turbo or something from memory

So will be interesting what power it will make.

Yep, If you find the thread with Marks low mount TS 6Boost, there are some good pics of the heat sheilds on there! They look pretty stealth!

And yep, i would be retuning or touch up tune with ANY change ;)

We'll I thought the motor would be finished by next week

But its actually going to finish today lol!

Small update

Bit of cosmetic changes and trial fitment.

Over the next few weeks when we have time it will go back in the car

I was about to say "Y U NO COAT ENGINE???" But then saw this! Nailed it! Epic manifold from Brenton

So sorry to hear about your car getting stolen and treated the way it was.

But hey! Things are looking good now, your build is bloody awesome and can't wait to see it finished and see you out at Sandown and Winton :)

Man what a mad build! Love it :D

Thanks guys!

Minor update before the motor goes in:

I remembered how much of a pain in the arse the standard water lines to the turbo were to fit on a aftermarket turbo.

So the workshop made some braided water lines with speedflow fittings:

Old water line vs new

Test fitment

I may also be keen for a set. I purchased some Kando lines but they use banjo bolts and it really doesn't work well at all. Yours look like they screw into the block directly rather than use a banjo bolt.

How much would a set of those lines set me back? PM if you want.

do like those water lines.

Yeah they do look quite nice :D Makes a turbo install much easier too!

Just the cost of the parts was ~$120 for 7 speedflow fittings and $27 p/m for the hose used. Used about 1,5m. These are quality parts too, not a yum cha brand.

There is a fitting that gets screwed to the the block, and then the line connects that that fitting. Perfect fitment

If you guys would like some I can see if he will make some for you lot

Cost will depend on the fittings you need though

I'm definitely keen, not right now but in the near future. Would need whatever the stock turbo uses for now so makes it easy enough, your highflow would use the same fittings?

No worries!

Pretty sure it's the same fittings, as I was using the stock water line fittings on the Ss2 turbo when I had it on

I would also be down for a set for sure, do speedflow do black fittings, as the blue and red anodized look nice but easy for the cops to pick up on, i would rather keep everything stealth if possible! I checked with Stao and yes the highflows use the same size fittings as the standard turbo so myself and Miguelone would need exactly the same fittings as yourself.

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
