im installing a 3076r on my r34 and the intake pipe i have is a 3 inch, but i have a 4 inch anti surge housing on my turbo, so question is can i get away with a 3 to 4'' silicone adaptor at the turbo or will this be to restrictive having a 3 inch pipe coming to the turbo?? this is instead getting a new custom 4'' pipe to save a bit of time and money. but then i will have the reducer and the afm with the 4'' pipe (z32 has a 3'' housing).

From what i have read/heard about this just keep to intake pipe same size as the outlet, but i guess like u said u run into drams with the afm and stuff, so i cant see why you couldnt do that, maybe if ur chasing big power down the track that could be an issue, than again u could go to a map sensor ecu, and not have to run a afm!

Cool thanks I'm not worried about the Afm just the air flow up to the turbo being different maybe causing some dramas, the extra inch is pretty much the surge slots so all I was worried about was them not being utilised.

The compressors inlet diametre from memory is 57mm (2 1/4") and the only reason the compressor housings boss is 100mm (4") is for the ported shroud .

The Z32 is 80mm (3 1/8 OD) and internally is the smallest part of the inlet plumbing . I doubt its bore size is any larger than 76mm (3") so using 4" pipe wouldn't gain any flow only volume .

A .

AFM needs to be AS FAR away as possible from the intake, and it'll be fine.

I went 4inch because it looks better and hopefully lets the turbo breath better,

if the dump is bigger than the turbine, shouldnt the intake be bigger than the compressor for max hp?

I think the point is that I wont gain or improve anything buy going 4inch as the turbo doesn't need that space to do its job and the impeller itself isnt that big. The Turbo is low mount so it was going to be squishy with a 4inch. But I'll stick with my 3 inch pipe and use the reducer at the turbo. Thanks for all the input

    • I don't really know general street pads too well, but there is no reason you can't get a low dust, long wearing, no squeal pad that works for those calipers at a reasonable price....they would just be a low end to medium price daily style pad.  If new pads don't have much bite or they loose it over time, it is probably just the pad glazing up which you can fix by giving them a good thrashing every now and then (or get the mechanic to deglaze them at next service) Track or semi track pads are where you have to put up with excessive dust (and potentially squealing as a side effect of that) in return for good bite and performance when very hot. Street pads have nothing like that sort of punishment, even long downhills with the brakes on are easier than a track session
    • lol yeah I'll check that, reminds me of the LDV thread!  I don't think that is the problem here, the starter doesn't even solenoid click. I did do a super quick test by removing the starter motor's power cable from the engine bay fuse box and the battery voltage was still 10v, so something super fishy is going on. BTW here is a R33 fuse box table I threw together from a few sources....use at own risk! R33 Fuse Box and Sources.xlsx
