Im just curious how many people drive a rb26 powered vehicle as a daily to and from work? What mods do u have and how much difference has it cost u in fuel?

I have a rb26 powered r31 and was looking to grab a power fc, injectors and eventually n1 turbos. At the moment im getting around 350 to 400kms driving in traffic conditions and around 550km+ hwy driving. This is with a 60l fuel tank, ball bearing r34 turbos and full exhaust with 12psi.

Im willing to compromise a bit but not only to get 200l from a tank lol as i do a fair bit of driving. Interested in what others are getting from there daily rb26's

I split my daily duties between two cars but I get about that 450km/tank mark with 280KW. I actually get better fuel ecconemy in my R32 GT-R than I did in my GTS-T because the off boost drivability is a lot better. As we all know, you need to rev the nuts off an RB20 to make it move. Not that I had to do much in general driving, but I had to hit boost more often.

I've been dailying my R32 GT-R now, usually driving in traffic. Usually get 450-550 km per tank (60L) depending on how much boost it sees (not much) and more importantly how the AFMs feel lol. I got 650km once, but I did lots of highway kms and the AFMs were kind. Engine is standard, standard turbo, standard dumps and aftermarket everything after.

My goal is to get 10L/100km, which I believe is achievable with Nistune, new coilpacks and new AFMs.

You should be easily getting 550-600km to a tank if you take it easy. R31s are lighter and don't have 4WD.

When I had my R32 GTS-t, I was easily getting 600km per tank in traffic. Only mod was R34 turbo, everything else was standard including the exhaust. Damn I miss that car :( especially the sunroof lol.

Biggest factor is your right foot. If that's in check, then it'll be O2 sensors, spark, tune. Also if your car is an Aus-spec, make sure the rear calipers aren't dragging.

300KW and everything under the bonnet oversized pistons, 400Km per tank (If im lucky). It's been off the road for about a year though so im still not into the light foot stage...

I wouldn't use a 26 as a daily just because they are old. and they are cursed. I suppose the biggest difference you will see is from the turbos? if you have a turbo thats boosting in at like 2k (mine does) there isn't alot you can do about fuel.

I drive my 260rs everyday into melbourne cbd and out again all through peak hour. Quite stock atm, running 12psi, boost controller, turbo back exhaust and pod filters, SAFC.

I get 350kms in city traffic and 500km on highway driving. Being a wagon its heavier also. :-(

Anyone got any E85 RB26 (or RB30) feedback? I'd reckon it would be horrible economy!

Just did 104 kms to half a tank haha!!!

I have gotten 420 on the highway out of it though.

thats good to hear that with minor mods fuel economy still remains pretty decent. Have u all kept the standard cooling systems in place? one thing i find is the 26 feels horrible in the heat, keeps me in cruise mode though which in return keeps me out of trouble with the boys in blue so no complaints there. Only main problem i have had has been a few split coolant hoses over the past year, apart from that a 26 is a joy to drive daily

I daily my 34 GTR. With front pipes and exhaust I was averaging 320-350kms in inner west traffic every weekday. With 275 tyres, that makes a difference too I think.

Now with e85, haltech, 1000cc inj, pump, wideband I got 110kms to half a tank. With about 50% highway 50% thrash and traffic. Not real happy with that to be honest. I'll give it a couple of weeks to suss out what the average is. I may have underfilled the first tank of e85.

Not sure - didn't dyno it prior to putting the Haltech etc in.

Didn't have anything expect the front pipes and exhaust previously - it was boosting to 1.2bar by itself in 1st and 2nd and about 0.9bar in 3rd and 4th in cold weather.

    • Anyone want to make me an offer to take my v36/g37 3.7l manual coupe in full? Off memory it was low 100k km but the battery is flat so can't tell right now. What's wrong. I had engine problem's that led to a nice clunk. It made it home but it wasn't pretty for the last few kms. Happened under revs. Sounds like bottom end.. never got around to fully checking or fixing it so the car has sat still and unregistered for a few years. Minor bump in front end set the pedestrian protection under bonnet airbag off and that was meant to be repaired, but while waiting for the repair (parts to come) I got the engine problem. The rest of the car is in decent condition. All drive line is good. All interior is good. Leather interior. Wheels in good condition and decent tyres although the ps4s are likely a little too old now it's sat still. Colour of the car is pewter off memory, the dark grey colour. In Camden NSW. Would need a tray back pickup.

    • I started with the above in my head too, and I might be reading / thinking about what they want wrong, which is why I complicated it a bit further. Purpose I'm seeing is for the corner indicator to be on with headlights, and then if the indicator turns on it can still flash. The relay part above I can see working as required, except in the case of headlight is on, and indicator is on. The change over relay you've wired in would get signal from the indicator, and as it flashes would give power to the globe from the indicator, but as it flashes off, power comes from the headlight, which would cause the indicator to be constantly on when headlight is on, even while indicator change over is flashing. That is unless we don't care if it flashes or not if the headlight is on? I guess that's an OP clarification.
    • HI, Ive got an r34 gtt sedan A/T. The instrument cluster went out and I replaced it with another A/T everything visually looks the same and all the gauges work now with the exception of the speedometer and odometer. The speedo will stay pinned at zero until I'm going about 55kmh and then it'll say Im going about 5kmh. my odometer seems to be tracking at about a 1/10 of what it should. If I go 1km it'll say I've only gone 0.01. Appreciate any and all help. Ive tried searching through the forums reddit and a local fb group. The only info I think I've found is that some cars didnt come equipped with TCS (mind is) and the clusters may be different between those? I've also installed a brand new VSS and no joy obviously. TIA.
    • what speedo healer did you use?
