hard one of them nights tonight everything going great manifold almost back on nek minute stud randomly strips out of the block :( arhhh thank god for helicoils really want it back on before the weekend so i can get stuck in to other things and take it for a spin ;)

CARS GOING AGAIN manifolds back on and all going not leaking from manifold any more but is a small leak coming from where the dump pipe bolts to the turbo as one of the bolts are stripped will fix that should be easy fix hope so anyway then would like to take it to have it put on the sniffer just to make sure everything is ok with the tune and that as im not sure whats been done look it for a good drive last night and filled it up and drove 184km on highway and i had just over quarter of a tank left!! :woot: so it really really loves fule its done smell to rich and its not all black up the back of the car i believe it has something to do with the auto box and it slipping as its getting worse wont even go skids :( so sad but all that will change as soon as i get the manual in it cant wait to have it done and few little issues left and should be running good only really need to sort out the hand break and cable now...

havent done anything else to mine and probably wont this week been working every night this week on zacs laurel (frenchie1001) and after almost 12 months of work building it will (finger crossed) start tomorrow been a great build and learnt heaps be awesome to see it back on the track!!!

Thank you once again sir I have scored zacs hand break and front bit of the hand break line hope it will just hook up in to the where the auto hand break line splits off in to the Y just behind the gearbox and have got his bolting brackets so I can just drill the holes in the tunnel and and bolt it up just speedo now really anyone out there brought a pre made speedo drive to convert electric to cable speedo as I would rather get a good one then stuff around with the d22 nav ones and have my speedo out if I can help it!

well today i actually worked on my own laurel for a change pulled the manifold and everything back off and to find the new manifold is warped really pissed off about this as it was brand new trying to decide on what to do weather to get another one the same or try something different but im not spending $1200 on a 6 boost cant see the sense in that and i all so have bad heat problems wiring melting around the strut tower oil drain line off the turbo has melted through and the silicon bend off the turbo must of been touching as well and has done the same :( so will have bend welded to turbo and the oil drain made longer so it clears the manifold and try to move the wiring on the gearbox conversion side ive recived the the gktech clutch line very fast postage and after being stuffed around something shocking by kudos motorsports with the clutch master and slave told them dont bother after waiting weeks and weeks ive just brought a slave and master of the same guy i got the gearbox and the other parts off he has been a great help and ive found a company in NZ that can convert my electronic speedo to a cable so i can use the 25 box in the laurel so alot going on but im in no rush....

well over the ester had a awesome day at the Tasmania drift practice day at symmons plains even if i wasn't driving and and done a little to my car pulled out all the left over aircon ie pump and lines ive started on my conversion as well removed the auto shifter foot break and auto break pedal mounted the clutch pedal and clutch master and the clutch line having trouble getting the actual pin as its in the worst spot and hanging upside down in your car is horrible and with the manifold ive the flange of the manifold in 3 spots (pics to come) as ive been told it can bring the manifold back in to shape and it has so im just gonna give it ago and bolt it up but wont know till the conversion and everything is done but hopefully next weekend can get the auto box out and look at putting the manual in :) cant wait

well this weekend auto box was pulled out all the pedals done dash cluster has been changed im ready to put the clutch in now but i have never done this before so is there anyone out there with a good walk through on how to do it and what else i have to pull off as ive taken the converter off the back and the auto flywheel thing and am not stumped in what to do :/

You'll need to most likely make some relief cuts in the Auto spigot bearing then smck/pull it out of there. You'll then need to purchase a Manual Spigot bearing and smack it in with a hammer and a socket around the same size.

ok so ive need to get a spigot bearing i have a spigot bush that is like a brass bush that im guessing slips in side the bearing? i got a big bearing with my clutch that i was guessing was a throwout bearing? and i brought a small brass bearing from nissan guessing it was the spigot bush do i also need a manual spigot bearing??... sorry for the noob questions

    • What do you mean?  In between the two I shared?  They're the same boost   This will be insane.   A mate has a GTSt with a 9:1 RB30/25 with Tomei 256 cams and a Borg S362SX-E that is already a beast from the basement but has a stock 5 speed and will probably get a ZF8 one day.  After the G35 900 RB26 setup I'd be lying if the topic of "Wtf would a divided G35 be like on this thing?" idea hadn't come up - you'd definitely want a wide boost control range setup with it, as even with the less responsive and potent S361 we're having to ramp boost in from very low levels in the early gears.
    • ZF8 is faster, wider ratio spread, better in every way. I do not dispute this. But I have brain damage and I want the feeling of shifting gears. To me the extra work is fun, but I daily an automatic and in the US like 90+% of cars are automatic so a manual transmission is an "exotic" experience. If I want an automatic I've driven an F80 M3 with DCT more than a few times and it's incredibly capable but it's emotionally vacant to me.
    • Different folks for different folks I guess - for me, the 6MT > ZF8 claim is wild.  If I had a manual Skyline I'd be saving up fix that with a ZF8.  I went for a M135i, has the N55 which resolves a lot of the issues the N54 has, it already has the ZF8, is barely heavier than an R34 GTt, full boost before 2000rpm while also being real-word-faster than my old 280kw @ hubs R33 GTS25t and doing absolutely everything better.  There's nothing I'd change on it to be more like my old Skyline, tbh... it doesn't sound the same but it's got it's own awesome sound - definitely not worse.   To be fair I can't argue with most of those points.  I guess i was pointing it out as a comparison for a Skyline GTR and it's much closer all around there, like the weight difference between an M240i and an R34 GT-R isn't that much etc.   As above, I ended up getting an M135i which is in the 1400kg range - the M140 and M240is that you can get up till 2018 are B58, ZF8, RWD and in the 1400kg range which is a bit of fun... but doesn't fit the tyre etc of the Supra.  They are a run drive, though- maybe no an A90 Supra but a huge upgrade over a Skyline "sporty chassis" wise.
    • Im loving this thread. I have a g35/900 t4 split 1.00 ar going on my rb30/25 with 9:1 and 264 cams. its drive by wire and with vct i think it should spool nicely. I have the 8speed gearbox on the floor ready to go on so full boost changes will be a thing if the tyres can deal with it. it should always be on boost
    • The trouble for me is the automatic takes away so much from it. And the E92 has hydraulic power steering. Even after putting in an LSD you're looking at re-mapping the xDrive to be more like a Skyline which is just a lot of effort for something that is supposed to be easier and cheaper. I consider the E92 335i 6MT to basically be the obviously superior car to something like an R34 GTT. Half the price out here, the N54 makes so much more power so easily, is a far more refined car, etc. You do have to deal with the nightmare of the N54's foibles vs the B58 which is comparatively miles better and if a turbo does fail it's only one of them vs two and a lot less pipe spaghetti.  996 or 997 Turbo has the AWD system mapped like a Skyline. Basically always RWD unless engaging the front axle makes sense. A coworker let me drive his 997.2 Turbo 6MT and it's absolutely tremendous. I don't think I'd want more power in a street car.
