Im in :(

I have run twice at WSID, Both times got there at 3pm and was 13th car in first lane. Got 7 and 6 runs in. For a whole 8 hours with only 50 cars we would easily get 10 runs in.

They usually have say 40(guessing) officals at a Street Meet and around 150-180 cars and i still got 7 runs in, if they only have 10 officals and 50 cars it should work out the same.

I'd come but I'd like to see another drag meet used as a guinea pig day.

Tell everyone that X particular meet will be used to gauge the worthwhileness of doing it ourselves and make sure everyone gets there.

Have a look at this weekends Drag Combat for the sad side of the story.

You could try to make it more clubby/social by getting everyone to go in convoy and arrive together so we line up together (Is this possible, I've never been?)

Seeing more than 2-3 SAU cars on a regular "off-street" night would be a good start :(

ditto...has there been any attempts to organise a night get together at the off st meets? maybe try this, and if everybody does not get to participate due to excessive turn ups maybe then, an individual day? :headspin: the off st meets have a pretty casual environment upon staging and im pretty sure everbody would still have heaps of fun....this happens almost every week... this eliminates the need to pull each others hair out to get things organised :)

as much as the whole organisation pain in the arse it is, id much rather line up against another ................... 'line

and do something with the club that i have become a member of.

unfortunatly i dont get to come on the net often enough to be able to know when events are on, but bugger me id love to go to the track with fellow skyline enthusiast/owners

Hey Jase, a little off topic, do you get the fortnightly emails with what is on?

Like I said, this is a LOOOOONNNGGGGG way off and personally, I need some confidence restored in this club/forum and it's ability to support club drag events.

For now, let the interest be guaged.

Adrian

can i ask y this idea is such a long way off????

is the main reason numbers?

if so isnt it possible to take numbers over a time frame (say 1month) at the end of the month the numbers are counted, and the cost is divided between the participants, if the price is agreed on an acceptale they money has a week to b deposited to sau, then a date is to b agreed on by all! if sum1 drops out, the cost is increased or the ppl can wait till the spot is filled.

just a though.

(i know it sounds alot easier that it probably is)

Guys, On the Fordxr6turbo forum they arranged a run between the LS1's(holden v8) and the XR6turbo crews as WSID last weekend. There was an option for a private staging lane for a group booking. This may be a good way to see the level of commitment we have. The only catch is you must prepay ($45) for each person in the group.

I can get a few people from XR6 as they seem to prefer this form of racing. I would also like to give it a so as I have never run the 1/4 on the track.

As I have not run the 1/4 before, so I do not know what a private staging lane is, but it sounded better than the normal way.

Thoughts ?

WSID would have a lead time to book.....

So... say WSID needed payment in full 2 months before the day, SAU would need 120% comittment 2 months before the event.

It would take maybe 2-3 months to gather the momentum and full / non refundable deposits.

So that means that you need to comit with "$$" 4-5 monts ahead of the day - With no guarantee of the weather and what other plans pop up for you - etc

If SAU didn't get the $4K , 2 months before the day - they would need to renig to WSID.

So - the real question is - Would you put $100-150 large on the table 5 months before the event ??

If we get 50 ppl that say yes and put the folding forward then it could happen

The problem with collecting deposits is that

a. they would have to be substantial to cover the cost of the event

b. they would have to be very far in advance

So people would be less likely to fork out 100 bucks 2 months before an event. Thats what we found organising the trackday anyway

Yes you can race with a suspended licence. Just don't tell them that it is suspended :D They won't know if you don't say as you are still allowed to keep your licence - you just aren't allowed to drive on public roads with it. :D
