So Guys,

I have my car which is a NSW engineered car also registered in NSW,

I am trying to find out if I am able to transfer my car from NSW to ACT without having to get it through dickson,

I am not fussed if the engineering stays or i lose it in fact if i can do a simple transfer into ACT by a normal inspection and losing tue engineering certificate i would be happy.

Im pretty sure you can just get an ACT certified place to do the inspection... all you have to do in dickson is an identity check on the car. However that FMIC of your 33 may cause people to look further into it. It's a bit of a grey area.

And the rules might be different since its staying in your name..

Just call one of the approved places (Capital Automotive, Ultimate tunes etc) and see what they say. Just don't tell them you own a rival company =P

It is still not in my name from when i purchased the car ages ago for the fact it was off the road when bought as well as this issue i have now.

Technically if the lowest point (fmic) is higher than 115mm it is fine, as the reo etc is untouched and the car came out oem with a forward facing intercooler (and mounted external to the engine bay) so the technicality of my fmic being "grey area" can be justified

well thats good about the intercooler.

"The vehicle will need to be inspected at the Vehicle Inspection Station,Dickson, or by an authorised examiner to ensure it is roadworthy before it can be registered in the ACT. You will need the vehicle's interstate registration papers for this."

Edit: you don't need to do the identity check. So only the RWC.

yep, that's what canberra connect website says. I believe Dickson will then only pass it if the mods that are engineered also meet NCOP standards...

You can put your car through a inspection place other than Dickson, even though it is written that all interstate imports/modified vehicles/etc must go through Dickson. You're not meant to but Dickson is too busy at times and has referred people away, even for an import. I had a mate who transfered his R32 from VIC to ACT, and as per the rules, tried to book into Dickson. He was turned away because they didn't have an open slot for a few weeks.

The inspection place might turn a blind eye on the mods and let you through as a 'Standard' car. Good luck, if you try to put your car through as something other than stock. Most inspection places do not even know the rules. I gave up and took mine to Dickson, and was pinged on annoying things rather than the modified parts.

FMIC is fine on a Skyline, the GTR comes with one factory.

With regards to height, it is meant to be measured fully loaded, which they don't really have the ability to do and just set the height to around 140mm.

Also, some of the guys in Dickson do not know where to find the ACT legislation for vehicle modifications. They referred me to the VSB but that is only baseline for local authorities to create their own.

    • That's it. Too rich for me. I'm out. If it does start to sell in pieces, I'll probably register an interest in the diff & axles, gearbox & tailshaft, and maybe the brakes.
    • I tried my best, well I see how it is though... It's time to be ruthless! I'll up my bid with a JVC sub and an amp to run it, 8 stainless steel drink coasters with a rubber backing, and a photo of Tom Cruise. Oh, I can increase the cash portion by 20 cents if that helps. 
    • Or if it's grey, is it watery? Does it do it after you've been for like an hour long drive it will still do it, or just near the start of the trip? As GTS said, does it seem like oil (blue), water (white/grey) or fuel (black)? Sometimes the colour can be hard to see clearly too for what it is, as GTS says, what's it smell like?
    • I wonder if part of it has to do with when you've each bought the kits. I honestly have the feeling that the silicon joiners in the 2000s were actually better quality than most of what you can find these days. Even in the same brands. Everyone racing to the cheapest price while still trying to make profit means lower quality parts. For coolant, I personally would be going with rubber, OR, converting the radiator and engine to use the huge AN fittings hose for radiators.
    • If shift solenoid A is bad, that explains limp mode --- now you're in the same position as I mentioned previously, in that the next step is to confirm loom/wiring integrity from TCU to gearbox connector with a multimeter (the TCU cannot detect a broken wire, which can happen ..ie; rodent damage, loom rubbed through)...and then finally measure resistance (at the gearbox connector) for shift solenoid A ... ...once you confirm shift solenoid A is bad (open circuit, really low or greater than 40ohm resistance), then it's a job ; you have buy a complete solenoid set, get under the car and drop transmission oil pan, and remove valvebody assembly (the solenoids sit on top), replace solenoid set, and reassemble....it's not exactly a fun task, but readily doable.
