i have an r34 sedan

mods are:

front mount full 3in exhuast and 3in cat, pod filter no after market ecu

now the issue is that no matter what i do it always seems to wanna boost to at least 1bar i had a manual boost controll on it didnt fix the prob and just brought a new hdi ebc-r

and same thing isnt controlling the boost at all just seems to do what it wonts and answers people?

i have done a boost leak test on the cooler pipes once before and wasnt leaking

please help i wanna rev my car past 5 but hits boost cut/fuel cut hmmmmm??????

maybe the actuator diaphram is fkd...

If your wastegate can open then somewhere the signal of boost pressure in ur vaccum lines is not being translated to the actuator/opening the actuator properly...

Might sound like a silly question but do you have the vac lines connected correctly to the solenoid and actuator, I agree with JJMAN (I had this issue also at one stage), could be an issue with the boost pressure signal to the solenoid which is causing the wastegate to remain closed. Maybe a pic of your val line setup?

Why does the hose do a loop out of the cooler hose?

And does it boost up that high with no boost controller on there at all?

There seems to be an aweful lot of hoses in that pic. Try running a new hose from the intake plenum (such as.from the bov feed) straight to the wastefate and pull all those other hoses off and block them and see what happens

What is your boost controller set to in terms of pressure or percentage of boost?

Try disconnecting the solenoid an run a hose directly from the turbo to the waste gate do a run up the street. See if the new gate opens. If it does then maybe something to do with ur solenoid.

If they dont work try using another source of boost pressure further along the cooler piping like near the bov.

The hose coming out of the cooler piping is for the steering

As the piping I got didn't have a nipple I made one up

As the factory hose went there :)

I don't know what the controller is set at coz no matter where I set it it always boost to 1 bar or lil bit higher

And on that note changed my bov back to an after market one yesterday and its not very loud at all

And it use to be very loud :/

And the boost solinod is brand new only 1 day old so can't be broken

Well the wastegate should open when u hit boost pretty much straight away when connected directly to a pressure soucre as there is no solenoid valuve in the way. A manifold leak wont increase boost pressure as that is escaping exhaust not reaching the turbo.

What kind of turbo have u got fitted?

If the gate is still opening when ur on throttle and ur still make stupid boost level sounds like there could be a blockage preventing the exhaust from leaving through the dump.

so heres a new one it was pretty average day hotish and i decided to block of the map/boost sensor(one on the back fire wall) and the boost was able to be controled

WTF???

so meaning is that thing stuffed ot what?

    • For me at least the reason why it bothers me is because it's indicative of a deeper problem. And that will nag at me forever. Especially because I have tailpipe emissions testing + evap leak testing every 2 years.
    • WELP. I went to the track, and I suppose it went okay because any time you can drive home is okay. You may notice the car is not on the circuit in this picture. It was about 35C day out in Benalla which means the track was approximately the surface of the sun, probably. Good things, car did not overheat but it _was_ warmer than when I had done track days in similar heat before, I think, I'm not sure - I can't quite remember. Coolant got to ~105 via the ECU after 20-30 minutes of belting it in said heat. Oil got up to 145C in one instance which is pretty crazy due to oil cooler. Pressures were fine. I seem to remember this not getting quite so high before the vents. More HMMMM'ing to be done. On the subject of HMMM'ing, can anyone identify the sounds in the video below, you will know which ones I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj3BkI2cbTc I included some 'normal' sound as a reference for the first minute or so. The microphone in this instance was where the license plate is. It stopped working later in the day which is why my "best example of a lap video (not produced)" had internal audio - Isn't hearable from inside the car. I don't mean the chirping of the un-bedded/badly bedded track brakes which you can only hear while braking... Thoughts, brains trust?
    • blame old mate Hawkins for that one  I remember way back in the day the japanese didn't want them either... they always assumed a race shell would be thrashed. We found a few when looking for an R34 GTR for the Whites to drive in Targa Tas back in 2002.
    • I know it's probably not going to cause any major engine issues. I just had a more generic concern that it's technically not running right (I guess this means the rpm is not sitting where it technically should be) Though the other thing is, it's that my steering wheel is shaking at 1,100 rpm at idle until it gets warm (seemed to happen after I tightened my alternator belt, will be testing the alternator soon).
    • I mean, what's the concern here? Higher fuel consumption? FWIW my idle sits at around 800rpm or so as well. And yes, it runs fine, idles fine and there are no issues as far as I can tell. I don't quite see the problem.
