HHP officers havent admitted that the defect should be lifted, a traffic officer from another area has stated if it was there area and it was brought to their attention as was done here they would have cleared it. HHP officers have banded together and dug their heels in to show a united front and all state the the defect stands, prove your case to VIS

Another interesting one. A guy I know got done on Milne st, just around the corner from Morpowa, driving a car on trader plates to Morpowa. Police didnt record a vin, nothing, just said its defective, gave him a fine and made him tow the vehicle away.

Pretty crazy that you can get defected on trade plates, a business owner driving his car to a place of repair? anyone heard of this before?

My bad. Sorry :) But there is still a traffic officer that has stated he would have cleared it.

Yes, but he cannot do it because it wasnt issued by his division. And with the attention we have created about this defect HHP would notice any removal of this defect.

Yep I understand that Shane. I was looking more at the fact that this situation shows up obvious inconsistancies with the current system. One traffic division says it is a defect that stands until proven otherwise (by a full Regency park inspection). And yet another traffic officer states that he would have removed the defect (or possibly not given it in the first place?) as it isn't a defectable item.

sorry to hear about your misfortunes Erica .... if there is anything I can do to help, you only have to ask.

Damn cops - I once had respect for them, but with all of the things going on around the import scene - with this being a prime example, I have lost COMPLETE respect. Please take this all the way Erica - we need to take a stand!

I was almost done for my BOV (standard recirc) last year.

I was accelerating off from a set of lights at a normal pace when a close by set of lights turned orange. I was doing around 60km/h (80km/h zone) in second gear, I backed off (pshhh) and came to a stop. The EL ford with a family inside reached the traffic lights before my self so they accelerated harder than I did.

The cop at the lights turning in front of me had the most angry on a mission look I have ever seen. As soon as the cop heard the Pshhh noise he instantly started staring (when backing off in second). He drove past me he pointed and mouthed some cr*p. He then proceeded to slap his blinker on to perform an illegal U-turn at the set of traffic lights I had just accelerated from.

The Traffic lights went green, it was peak hour traffic and there was a truck behind me blocking the cops view, so I turned off down a side street.

Erica, if you got defected for only the BOV, isnt it standard practice to allow the car to go to a police station to have the defect removed, rather than a full regency inspection?

Just wondering, cos if it is just the one thing, it might be worth addressing the fact that they are deviating from standard practice with the crowd that are looking into it for you.

I know a s.seargeant at one of the Police Stations. He clears basic defects that are visible for me. Only a SA police officer or RTA officer has the authority to clear any defected item on your car as stated on your defect notice.

Its just common practice that, one officer will not undermine another officers view that the vehicle needs to be taken to a VIS. However, having said this, if the officer believes that the defected item has been replaced, he/she can undefect a vehicle. Hence, I was trying to ask Erica what exactly was defected.

Im not sure what your definition "back door defect removal " exactly is, but i assure you, this is legal.

Steve,

I've looked in to whats legal and whats not over the last few days and also a few other little bits.

I came across this:

If you live 40km/s outside of CBD you can have the defect taken off at the local police station OR if its a major defect they send you to regency.

If you live within 40km/s of the CBD then you have to go to regency.

Thats what it says which I find strange as down at the local police station they have a defect inspection car park.

I'm registering my car back at my oldies place.

Every little bit helps.

A couple of other bits off the top of my head.

Strut Braces - Legal

Exhaust Silencers - Legal

Intercooler - Legal providing no cutting of the body work.

Pod Filter - Legal

Adj. Sway Bars - Legal

Aftermarket Radiator - Legal providing no cutting of bodywork.

Slotted Rotors & GTR Brakes - Legal

Braided Brake Lines - Legal if ADR approved

Brake Master Cyclinder Brace - Legal

The BOV must be totally stock, nothing is allowed to change.

Everything from the POD or filter back must remain stock, this also means the rubber that joins the afm to the turbo.

Lowering a Car is a difficult one as there are a few different things.. I remember some thing about not reducing the travel of the suspension and also the headlight height. Lowering is not recommended as you will generally in 90% of the case be done for the headlight height.
