hi all,

got me an R33 GTS-T, i think is it's model. It's a turbo'd car that has been sitting unused since mid 2011. It was stolen at one point and the dash has been destroyed

can anyone please tell me, where should I go to get replacement parts for the dash? How do I tell exactly what kind of skyline i have? what kind of work should I do to get it running properly and in good shape? At the moment it's not showing any boost and seems as though the blow off valve is stuck open or something, where is this and how do I check it? It is also idling rough and stalls

I live in newcastle NSW

Thanks

Tim

try an import wreckers, ebay, the for sale section on this forum and even your local nissan dealership for parts for the dash.

as for what model it is, the import plate and build plate should tell you what model it is, as well as the vin number.

if the stock dash boost gauge isn't showing boost, then it may just be that the line to the sensor is split (common problem). easy way to tell this is by whether it shows vaccum at idle as well. if it doesn't then the line is split

  • 2 weeks later...

hey guys thanks for the replies. I located the little hose for the dash boost gauge. It was indeed split as it has hardened. It now shows a vacuum at idle

I still don't have any boost though... any ideas what I can check? I have put soapy water around the intake and intercooler pipes with no bubbles apparent. I don't really want to have to pay someone to look at it as I want to learn this myself.

I can hear the turbo spooling up and it sounds as it should

Engine seems to have a miss too :/ It's on 135,000kms approx and doesn't seem to have had a major service, possible plugs leads issue?

Thanks guys

I'd personally change the coilpacks (they cause missfire and stutering of the car) along with the spark plugs, fuel filter, oil change, oil filter, timming belt with tensioners etc..., accessory belts, radiator flush with new coolant.

Just to be on the safe side this should have all been done as a part of the 100k service. If your timing belt snaps you will need a new engine.

Doing the major service might eliminate some if not all your issues minus the boost problem.
