Yep I worked it out the hard way!

Actually completed the mission and got out there though! Well worth the extra effort, it's about 100x more interesting than the old one. Got plenty of photos and bought some small things and a team jacket. Can't post any photos but if you check out the SAU page on fb they are up on there.

So I checked out autobacs in the hope they might have some cool stuff but all they had were some razo shit, a hks pod filter and about a million different types of car fragrance. Where do the locals buy their bride, tomei, greddy, hks etc gear?

super autobacs in tokyo bay.

they've got a decent range of wheels, plenty of recaros, brides, takata harnesses, some GTR hyper rev mags, some nismo gear, aisles of air fresheners, rear view mirrors, defis, pretty much the works.

was it hard to get to the nismo factory? im heading to japan in a couple of weeks and THIS would be awesome to visit

Take the train to JR Tsurumi and catch a cab. Getting to Tsurumi is easy, telling the cabbie where to go is a bit more of a challenge as my one got a bit confused at first but then called on the rado and worked it out. It's not as convenient as the old Omori Factory but it's definitely worth the effort. Probably about an hour out of Tokyo. Take some directions in Japanese with you. And be sure to ask the nice lady at the Nismo counter to get you a cab back to Tsurumi :)

Oh and don't follow the instructions on the Nismo english website! They haven't updated the location of the new Nismo HQ. Check this out http://www.nismo.co.jp/showroom/accessmap/img/map_img.png

Namamuggi station is the station you want to get to. It's much closer than Tsurumi station though it's not on the JR line (only an issue if youre sticking to JR lines due to having a JR pass). From here you can either walk about 15 - 20 minutes or try your luck finding a cab. There aren't many out that side of town as it is an industrial area :/

Ramie, mate hire a car punch in phone number into gps job done ! You can ask for english gps .

Having a car you can hit half a dozen workshops in near by areas plus pop into daikoku.

You'll see a lot more with a car and have the freedom to go where ever you want and driving in Japan is easy.

If you haven't booked your hotel I can help you line up a cheap place with car park and can help sort rental car, I use Japanese web booking sites and have club cards so get deals. Send me pm or email me if you want.

One thing to keep in mind , Golden Week (27/4 ~ 06/05) is not far away and Japan shuts down big time plus getting hotels or car rentals are extremely difficult and travelling on trains through this time..forget it, its a total nightmare.

lucky then, i will be getting into Japan just after that time period :)

i've already purchased a rail pass, so i'll just get my head around things this first trip and be more adventurous the second time around.

thanks for the offer though marcus, really appreciate it

Elrodeo666 knows his stuff. I lived in Japan for 7 years and his comments are on the money. and sometimes even just successfully finding these places is half the fun, as you might not see as much as you expected once you get there.

    • Nope, but they are definitely one of the default choices. Well established.

    • Haha actually I did join back then under a different email address,  I couldn't re-activate my account so made a new one! I didn't post much anyway so not missing out on much. Amazing to see how the value of the cars and parts has changed over the years, also ACT section appears to be dead now.
    • Thanks... It's in pretty good condition overall, probably due to not being drifted/tuned however being a daily driver has taken its toll. Had 100k on the clock when I got it, up to 180k now. Unfortunately it's not 100% dent free, it's got a small dent on FLH side and broken indicator from where I hit a small kangaroo at high speed. If you look at closely at pic #5 you might spot the dodgy trailer light repair my old man and I rigged up as temporary repair! - It's still there due to a combo of needing the car as daily driver and then too lazy/busy to fix properly. I've a couple of other minor accidents accidents as well but nothing major. One required a new front bar and unfortunately the smash repairer ordered the normal gtst one and not the aero bar. Needed the car back asap so just went with it, regretted ever since.
    • I can't believe that anyone is foolish enough to believe that the base maps are for any other purpose than to drive the car up onto the trailer/truck or gently creep it to the dyno. No matter how good they are, they can never be any better than the factory maps**, and only the foolish trust those on a significantly modified setup. **Yeah, yeah. I know there's also the difference between factory maps being fixed to certain injector sizes and MAP/AFM/VE relationships, and the likely aftermarket ECU base maps being better able to handle the sorts of changes that would render a stock ECU dangerous, like different sized injectors. But let's just ignore that for the moment, because the principle is still the same.
