After 10 years as a concept, first-person driving simulator, 'Drive Club', has been announced for a release on the PS4. The game will not necessarily focus on winning races as much as competing against other racing clubs and completing challenges. Matt Southern, head of Evolution Studios had the following to say about 'Drive Club'. "The gameplay isn't specifically about races, it's about challenges. The game rewards you for playing in groups even if you're not on top of the leaderboard. Much like the squad based first-person shooters do."

There will also be a 'Drive Club' app for your smartphone or tablet, in which you will be able to pick any car, race type, weather type, or day, set a time, and send a challenge to anybody around the world. Clubs from around the world will then be able to battle it out to see who comes out victorious in your challenge.

According to Southern, "Next to owning the actual car, 'Drive Club' will be the closest thing you will get when it comes to detail and accuracy. With totally correct material parameters, painstakingly measured from the real thing using our custom built photomatic apparatus."

Not much other info is available at this time. I quite like the concept and the game sounds pretty fun. The graphics look pretty average when you look at the cars, and compare them to Forza 4 or Gran Turismo. Or maybe that's just me.

I hope this is open-world, then it would be the expansive, dynamic game Test Drive Unlimited was supposed to be. But, looking at way the menu is setout, it looks like it might just be an event based game like Need for Speed's of old.
