Now that were getting into the ''cooler'' months of the year i was thinking that maybe we could do a track day at wakefield park (seeing most people on hear are from syd & canb). And it could be a "friendly" time trail day for supras against sklyines. Anybody would be able to come along and enter but the main idea is to put the to makes/models of cars against each other. Just thought i'd put in an idea as i've been wanting to have a blast round wakefield for a very long time And would provide a good days entertainment.

sounds good gtr is hungry for some supra meat. i'm a regular at wakefeild and am eager to get back on. i usually check the wakefield website for open track days.

i do know of 2 supra's that 'might' be a threat to me but either way 'bring it on'

as far as i know the amount of skylines in canberra either gts-t's or gtr's would outnumber the supra owners 10-1. it'll be a slaughter at the track......in a freindly type of way.

p.s. no offence to any supra owners out there.

Whos supras???, I've got a friend(well a couple actually) who are on the forums and part of the syd mark iv club. And know most of the big power supra in canberra. I'm also part of the CCG (Canberra celica group) with the sprinter and soon to be in somthing to do with skylines as i'm buying Lee's R32 with the RB25 in it!!! That should kill of so fat arsed JZA80's!!!

It's a tight track for bigger cars. I was down there a few weeks ago and it's the first time my car actually felt 'big'.

Do it on a weekend for best attendance I reckon.

I dunno if maybe Sundays are better so people can prep their cars on saturday.???

I'd come anyway.

.

Thats the plan, been going through the going throught the forums, J-racing is hold a track day on the 12 october (sunday) at wakefield park. So that sound like the plan, i was at the last on and the turn out was good, only down side to sundays is that it cost's more. think it was about $150 last time. Were as "No Speed Days" are $80

1. luch it was in the recent speed mag the widebody trd. with a t78 kit, 330kw with standard fuel system, he'll be aiming for 450+ soon once he gets the fuel system sorted + 18/13 inch tyres at the back (semi slicks) he's a good friend and my nearest competitor here in canberra. he's a member as myself (red gtr) on www.shogunclubdivision.com

2. daniel it's gold and has been timed at 11. something sec down at sydney's new drag track, not too sure how it'll go at a circuit, he like me has been a regular at wakefield, but last i talked to him he is only interested in quarter mile times than circuit, but it won't stop him from having a go at wakefield.

it's good to see canberra has some nice/tough supra's to go up against the sydney boys. like abo bob has said it'll be good to have the track day on a weekend like sunday.

Ah, sharfty, The gold ESP supra, did and 11.2 last time he's gong to drag combat tomorrow. Only seen him at wakefield once, i had to help him when his car came off the trailor on his way back home.

if you already have the wakefield licence and you're own helmet it'll save you a few extra $$ regardless if you go during the week or weekend.

i do know it'll cost more to hire the track on the weekends (sat/sun) than it is to hiring it during the week.

but have it when it has an open track day (no speed limit) during the weekend which is maybe once in a blue moon.

when jerry from j-racing has a track day he charges through the roof, and makes at least 80-90% profit from it, which is ok for him but not ok for entrants.

hey whytry, i just remembered that ive driven past you before, i was i my bros R31 (blue executive) and we were both on isabella drive, i hung my head out of the windoiw and said nice and then u said thanks, then we went our seperate ways. i know this is probly heaps random but yeah...........

yeah but it sure as hell is loud ltsjayce and that's at idle i love the sound.

good meeting up with ya abo bob not a big turnout on sat which was good sunday was a bit busy but overall ok.

on another note meet a supra owner, forgot his name black, with chromies canberra car with a single turbo conversion one to look out for.

yeah but it sure as hell is loud ltsjayce and that's at idle i love the sound.

Ah,stop it:I'm blushing!Seriously,I gotta put something quieter(read:more legal)on it shortly, although it'll be hard going to something so strangled after being spoilt by the Nismo system....So,any update on the trackday?

check it on the n.s.w. thread under events, then track day.

Tried that:came up with 5th June-which has already gone...Did I miss something?Or did I not see an upcoming date?Keeeen for a lap or 20!

    • That's the thing....the basics of fuel and ignition are deceptively simple.....getting it to behave like factory in all conditions after airflow mods is way more complex. Newer cars like the V37 are all about modifying the standard ECU which is about a billion times more complex than they were 20 years ago, with a bunch of parameters affecting others
    • The larger TB I had on the SS was a pain to get to idle right, but, that was cable In the end they just raised the idle up a couple of hundred RPM so it was happy idling away either in gear or in park (slush box life) I'm curious on how my NC will idle with the new intake, larger TB, and cams that are currently going in/on, but I have faith that MX5 Mania will sort this "electronical" "black magic" out the best they can in the tune with a electronic TB Sometimes I wish I knew more about the intricacies of tuning, but most of the time I don't because I know it would hurt my brain 🤣
    • That's the thing. Cam is smaller than before.. though the old cam was +6 degrees advanced. We're talking huge changes here, the narrowbands want to trim out 20% of fuel and pull the (wideband) idle to like 16.0 AFR or such. One side is a little more trimmy than the other. Think along the lines of ~20% to ~15-18%. Unfortunately my scouring of the internet hasn't really found anyone with this issue. People either just disable NB's or have them wildly different, where one is -20% and the other is +20 or 0 (i.e a sensor is just dead/wiring is just busted). Turning them off and relying on the base map only results in the wideband reporting at about 14.0 with the Varex closed. It'd be a little leaner (closer to 14.7ish) with the Varex open. I know I can just change the switch points so that the narrowbands agree with the wideband, but it's still odd. Both of them are reading voltage, it's just that they're reading quite high mv, in the ~800 region. It's just odd. This was with the IAT fudged to report it was about ~22 degrees which is my guesstimation of the temperature in the room. I have an OEM sensor ready to try tonight, which is slow and crap - but .. worked last time I used it. Sadly I am aware that idle tuning with the big TB is going to be a PITA and I look 'forward' to many hours spent stalling or stumbling idle or delving into drivability things.
    • The GTR strut brace clears the new manifold.. by about 0.5mm. So this means I need to buy an OEM GTT Strut brace (again), which will clear the new manifold, but not the bonnet vents. I guess I can sell the GTR Strut brace with the bonnet with the vents as a package deal as someone will need this one day. So my choices are vented bonnet but no strut brace, or GTR Bonnet with OEM brace (which I have to buy) but is bright red instead of the same colour as the rest of the car, which means the entire front end of the car will just be red until it goes back to paint jail. In other news the engine starts and doesn't leak. Why both O2 narrowband sensors think the tune is rich AF I do not know. The idle is also pretty shitty and my expensive IAT sensor from the USA is dead. The car sounds awful. But I assume or at least hope this is due to the many exhaust leaks, and the concrete garage it is in, sitting there with 0 intake bolted to it, and no bonnet or panels or anything to stop the induction/intake sound which is about 200db.
