Turbo Problems

Hey everyone

Just wanting to know a few things...

Been having a problem lately when i hit boost my turbo occasionly makes this high pitched squeeling sound kind of like a supercharger, but it only happens every know and then.

My thoughts were that it might be a gasket or my one of my hoses closing shut.

Really dont want it to be the turbo itself.

Any help would be great thanks

Gasket leak due to broken manifold studs most likely. There should be some telltale carbon buildup where exhaust gasses are leaking.

Thats prob it. Had same noise. Broken studs. Most RB do it. Have just done the R32.

if the gaskets check out ok pull the dump pipe off and check the turbo exhaust wheel, mine made the same kind of sound and I found two fins broken off on the rear wheel, the wheel itself was still attached to the turbo so it still boosted ok

Yeah you will probably find that it is the dump pipe gasket, the high pitched squeal is the waste gate opening. I have come across this a couple of times as I am a exhaust fitter by trade.
