Classifications are skewed by the inclusion of points in each category that do not fit together.
As you have pointed out the emphasis is on Hoon.

My opinion is that drivers drive and if your pedestrian when you drive take public transport.
Every morning and evening (and i will generalise here) most people behind the wheel are day dreaming.
It's like there cars are on a mono rail and they are in the drivers seat at the time.

Some one will point out we all think we are the best drivers ever.
If i had my way I would start all potential drivers on motorcycles (more is learnt IMHO and there is no shell on that egg)
Back on topic I can relate to a few points above but not how it is written and how they have been classified/grouped and then labled.

Edit: It's like when a 100 people are pulled over by the RTA the camera goes straight to the clown and the clown car. SENSATIONALISM....

I could only scratch the surface of "Highway Cruiser" as I like driving at the limit on motorways and freeways, but that is normal for everyone too, I only scratch the surface cause I like it though no laws are broken.

It seems like every form of media is trying to generalize true car enthusiasts to actual hoons. Hoons aren't only just young people, had a flamin mongrel in a 4WD flash his high beams at me and hold his horn for a good 5 seconds straight trying to get me going and the dude was in his 50s.

They also left out the "Chilled Hoon", those who don't give a f**k all about racing, speeding, who respect the law and doesn't want any trouble, who tend to go slow and hold up traffic because traffic is at speed limit and who just wants to enjoy the car for what it is and respect it. :action-smiley-069:

Talk about a slow news day, gimme a break

There are dickheads of all sexes/races/religious affliliation/creeds/orgyparties in all kinds of cars/motorbikes/hottubtimemachines

end of argument as far as I'm concerned. Don't let other oxygen thieving muppets kill your vibe

WTF Skill Master??? So that would be anyone who has ever done legal motorsport in their life. f**king hoons!!

There are random points in there that are actual hoon behaviour but the whole article is the biggest load of shit I've ever read in my life!*

*except for the Wasteland

I agree with the first point of highway cruiser although its not really being a hoon, it should be ok to accelerate and enjoy the vehicle and all its character without being labeled a hoon, you will often see the police drive in this fashion, they dont cruise around on low revs, they drive like the car was intended and even speed, its just common sense really, but minus big burnouts.

Typical. My kind of hoon has been overlooked. The type that actually STOPS at a stop sign, does the speed limit, slows to a stop at an amber to red light and correctly indicates when exiting a round a bout without tyres screeching and in control of my car. Have a been discriminated against by the media?

Also, after being the victim of a hit and run by a stock commodore last night I noticed the lack of mention there.

right so Car enthusiast=Hoon? Gotcha.

But TBH it comes with the territory. If people ask what car you own and you say a dieline they will look down on it. It doesn't matter what it is in life people will just stereotype.

Motorbikes are the other big one. Did you know that 80% of fatal motorbike accidents are caused by rider error (Doing the wrong thing) rather than a car hitting them? Statistically speaking you are MUCH more likely to be killed in a car than on a bike. But many people will tell you not to go near them because they are a "Death trap".

So basically if you drive this type of car you will get the stigma and the attention that comes with it.

But i wouldn't change it for the world.

In conclusion: FK THE POLICE!

Er, no.

It's estimated that in 35% of fatal motorcycle accidents involve another vehicle turning DIRECTLY across the path of a motorcycle that is being being operated within the speed limit and within it's own lane.

That's ONE specific type of driver error accounting DIRECTLY for 35% of ALL motorcycle fatalities.

By my schoolboy maths, this leaves only 65% to account for all other types of motorcycle fatalities.

It doesn't account for any other type of aberrant driver behaviour, and supports the theory within the motorcycling community; that drivers are out to kill us.

Because they are.

The hoon=enthusiast argument is one being cleverly exploited by the mainstream media, and deliberately marginalises legitimate road users simply because they like cars, and lumps them in with every dickhead who ever did any stupid thing in a car.

It's an equation we need to spend more time opposing.

What about that other 63yr old that cruise's around the blue mountains in a white n1 :woot:

Edit age change incase he kills me lol

Just seen this ya bum!

His alter ego knows where you live!

As Shell alludes to, and I'm ashamed to say it; some person with the qualifications of yours truly, has probably been doing a thesis on this.

If I were a police forensic psychologist, I'd rather do a thesis on...

a) what irritates drivers and suggestions on rectification of the same

b) a percentage breakdown of how better to use police resources

c) what distracts the attention of a driver - in ranking

d) what the makeup and psychological profile is of a good driver

e) how girls can get so lost without a gps - jk
