Seano350GT
Okay so in the next week i'm going to be purchasing a new set of BC BR coilovers, and to go with that i'm going to need a front camber kit. I would really like a set of SPC camber arms, i have always liked their product and they are reasonably affordable. Only problem is i can't seem to find anyone in Oz that supplies them, and a new set from the states is $500. I am dealing with Mick @ Boostn Imports down in Brisbane for my coilovers, he has suggested a brand called "Hard race" i have never heard of them before, and for $349 a set i'm not sure on how good the build quality is. Here is a link to their website http://www.hardrace.com/ i am curious to know has anyone run any of these products on their cars? I know they are popular amongst the Honda scene just wanted to know how they go on our cars if not similar. Mick says they are usually a popular seller with his business and they are a good product i'm just after some user feedback or if anyone could point me in the direction of a product similar to SPC that won't cost me an arm and a leg. (Locky)
Hardrace from what ive seen are generic China stuff Little more but you can get SPL through JDM obsession, from what ive seen in there arms for S chassis and what ive read for the 35 arms seems to best quality with out being redardedly expensive. Everything I have got off him is actually cheaper than the US price + postage Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420801-front-camber-kit/#findComment-6768517 Share on other sites
Seano350GT
I did originally think of SPL but i have always seen them as being more expensive as SPC parts. I'll check out JDM obsession and see what they can do for me, are they here in Oz? edit: Locky i'm on their site and can't see anything about them stocking SPL parts for the V35 only s chassis cars Edited February 28, 2013 by Seano350GT Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420801-front-camber-kit/#findComment-6768522 Share on other sites
(Locky)
yeah they are in NSW Not on his site but I did get a quote on some rear stuff for the 35, Not a huge demand for them in aus yet espeically compared to S chassis but have seen a price list for Z33/V35 posted somewhere. I have spent an easy 3-4K through him for S chassis stuff , him and streeter are the 2 people I can not rate highly enough Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420801-front-camber-kit/#findComment-6768537 Share on other sites
(Locky)
They are not cheap though, but after comparing SPL and stuff like cusco to cheaper/generic stuff The quality is stupidly different and will not run cheap stuff anymore. EG a pair of cusco rose joints with 10,00km felt far more tight an than a brand new set of china stuff Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420801-front-camber-kit/#findComment-6768541 Share on other sites
Seano350GT
ok great thanks for that mate, i posted on JDM obsessions facebook but i will email them now and see what's going around. I might even bite the bullet and pay the extra for the SPC front kit. At the end of the day, it is suspension and plays a pretty bit role in the cars safety so i'll nut it out over the next week and see what i want to do. sonicii
The 'hard race' units look very much the same as the ichiba camber arms.. a quick google of these will turn you off fairly quickly. If you don't want to go with the SPC PRO arms, you can get their standard arms. - this is a US page, so you will need to add freight. http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35/product_info.php?products_id=4635 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420801-front-camber-kit/#findComment-6769026 Share on other sites
Seano350GT
thanks for that Greg, i think i will go for the SPC arms. I have done heaps of business with Charles @ B2autodesign in the US so he's done me a great price of $484 delivered. szymonsta
i will also be getting a front camber kit for my cpv35.. definitely i'd go with the best quality item you can get, these are not parts you want braking under fatigue! i was looking at the cusco A-arms..the SPL Pro stuff from the US seems to be top quality too..are the SPC A-arms adjustable by spacer or screw-type? MoonFaceRacing (MFR) make the SuperLap A-arm for V35 but it doesnt look like an adjustable one? anyone have info on this? Anyone else used cusco adjustable camber kit on their V35? if so opinions? Seano350GT
SPL is meant to be the bees knees, more common on track/drift cars. Daily drive the SPC's are meant to be great, i've found another vendor in the states that can get me a better price on the SPC front camber arm, he thinks he can beat $450 delivered so i'll get an email soon confirming that. If anyone wants the SPC camber kits front or back hit up - [email protected] he works directly with SPC in the states and ships world wide. sonicii
Thanks for the tip Sean.. I am going to see how my front tyres fare with the -1.4deg camber with the stock arms.. have done nearly 2,000km (city) on them so far and can't detect any additional wear on the inside edge of the tyre.. I guess I will probably need about 10,000km before I can come to any conclusions. Seano350GT
no worries, if you guys are on facebook you should really join the V35 coupe drivers group. Heaps of good info to be found there, those guys in the states are mad about the stance scene and that so they know suspension fairly well and it's good because alot of the vendors from the US are on there posting up their specials and chiming in on posts about parts and shit so yeah helpful bunch of people. (Locky)
1.4 deg camber is nothing It's toe that kills tyres Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420801-front-camber-kit/#findComment-6774353 Share on other sites
sonicii
1.4 deg camber is nothing It's toe that kills tyres I was more worried about uneven wear with too much camber.. some say I will chew out the inside of the tyre fairly quickly, some say that 1.4deg is nothing to worry about and it shouldn't impact much on tyre life.. I will just wait and see for myself. It makes sense that too much negative camber will wear out the inside edge of the tyre quicker than normal.. (Locky)
but with a propper alinment will make minimal difference. If you are worried get the tyre flipped between the 2 front rims so the side with less wwear is now on the inside. I ran nearly 3 deg and still got decent wear Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420801-front-camber-kit/#findComment-6774703 Share on other sites
sonicii
I am hoping the wear will be minimal and I won't have to worry about camber arms.. the tyres are asymmetrical (not directional), so I can't flip them on the rim. (Locky)
put left tyre on right rim Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420801-front-camber-kit/#findComment-6774854 Share on other sites
sonicii
They are asymmetrical tyres!!. the inside edge will still be on the inside regardless of which side of the car I put them (tyre sidewalls are marked 'inside' and 'outside)'. gtrtech
Paid $570 delivered for Cusco arms from JDM Concept. $146 delivered for a full Energy Suspension bush kit for the front from Ultrarev on Amazon. $200 delivered for rear arms from SPC, also on Amazon. Our sedan is running 350Z springs and used to chew tyres at an alarming rate, now they look as good as the day they went on.
