VINs are 17 characters, if 100352 were the identifier then it would be a chassis number which would make the car pre 89

No it wouldnt. Nismo editions were in the range:

Under carriage number division GT - R NISMO

Under carriage number 100000 – 100560

To get it into Aus it gets a 17 character alphanumeric number assigned, without it it cannot be registered. I'm not trying to be rude, I work for Vicroads and deal with imports.

Well not being rude but you would then recognise the aluminium plate rivetted to the firewall as containing the number?

Why not just ask the bloke to post up what it has written on it. Because it will probably be BNR032-00000100352 or similar.

Not that hard, really.

I'm not posting up the papers, if someone's interested you can message me through personal message. My vins there so people can go fast check it themselves or go the extra mile and get it checked properly.
