Hi guys,

I am a complete Nissan newbie, never owned one before, though I have admired them for years. I am also no mechanic or modder, I leave that stuff to the professionals.

Last week I bought myself a very clean, straight, almost factory condition R33 GST-T (1996 S2). It even has the originial wheels, the only modification I know of is largers pipes, 2.5" as opposed to 2". It also has a boost gauge and a boost timer, which I don't completely understand. I live in the inner city which means of course I will rarely get to test this machine, and will have to exercise discipline driving it or face punishment. I see you guys recently went on a ride up the Putty Road, I am sorry I missed it as I was going to go up there myself soon, but I guess I still will to see what my car can do. I will take a neighbour who is used to hard fast driving to help me, as I say I am a newbie to this sort of car. My last "sort of" sports car was - please don't laugh - a 95 Celica, and this Skyline is a whole new beast to me.

I'd love to gain from the knowledge and experience in this forum to enhance my experience. I have to admit, from my quick look-a-round you guys seem formidable in that. I'd like to know about simple, cheap things I can do to help my car - please bear in mind I am not a mechanic. I'd like to go to meets or on drives with you lot too.

Cheers,

Jack

Welcome jack!

glad to hear you're enjoying your car.

if you are happy with it, just keep servicing up to date.

try and read up on any mods you are planning, and start saving.

definitely try and make it to some runs.

we are having a meet at goulburn next weekend.

see nsw events section for further details.

Welcome.

The best thing you can do is start in the DIY section and go from there with regards to learning the basic things about maintaining and modifying your new r33.

There is a lot of knowledge you can gain with just a few searches for the right topics.
