I had code 21 come up on my NA r34. I have replaced the coil packs and the cam angle sensor. The car is running fine but the engine light is still on, I had it tested again and code 21 was diagnosed again and this time I was told to replace the ignition module. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, did replacing the ignition module resolve it?

Thanks Cameron.

Hi mate, don't worry, plenty of us have had this issue - just need a few more facts if possible

- was the code cleared from the ECU? has it come back or has the light always been on?

- are you still experiencing any rough idling/hunting from the motor?

- did the workshop you took the car to test each of the new coilpacks to make sure they were in good working condition after they were installed? (i have had a brand new nissan OEM coilpack fail within the first day)

- which workshop did you take it to? which state are you in? did you take the car to workshop which is familiar with skylines and all their common issues?

most of the time the issue is with the coilpacks, but in some cases it does lead to the ignition module, i would doubt it though, best to check again with a good workshop with what you have already done instead of just replacing everything

hope you get it sorted mate, we've all been there

Dan

Hi Dan, The light has always been on, the car was running rough before the coil packs were changed but it is running fine now.

I am in Brisbane and my mechanic is not a Skyline specialist. I took to another one who claim to be a Nissan specialist and he suggested to replace the ignition module. I will get the coil packs checked.

Thanks Cameron.

Hi mate, it could be that the code has not yet been cleared from the ECU from when you replaced the faulty items, would be the first thing to check

if you are not finding any idling issues, the coilpacks, ignition module and CAS should not be at fault

if you clear the code (need a carputer ECU scanner thingo) see the below workshops as they would definately have these

i would try suss out either of these workshops depending on which is closer to you;

Dan @ ERD at Yatala (South) or Pete @ RPM Dyno and Performance at Morayfield (North).

as they build imports (particularly skylines) day in day out, as they would be your best bet to trying and sourcing parts to help you out
