Another compliance question.... "rebuild" plates???

Recommended Posts

We are looking at an Evo IV for a mate tomorrow, it is apparently not complied, but registered under "Rebuild" or "Rebuilt" plates... it is apparently legal to register these...

Anyone can shed any light ASAP on this

thanks!

No plates were ever available for evolution IV...they are all rebuilt vehicles with the exception of a few cases of personal import (yellow Tags)Nothing wrong with a rebuilt vehicle at all 100 percent legal

yeah they are legal and they are approved by DOTARS, if at all in doubt submit the VIN numbers and Chassis numbers to DOTARS and have em do a background check, think it costs like 50 quid but you'll be all the more wiser to the history of the car.

no such thing as a rebuild plate duncan and munkey they have nothing to do with dotars......the car would have been bought in for wrecking under the old scheme pre 8th march 2002 or imported as a race car then "stripped" and rebuilt...dotars will not know any history on this vehicle

an engineer will inspect it to make sure the following have been fitted ....original aust delivered seat belts, child restraint anchor points, normal mirror, dimmer switch, ulp filler neck, high mount stop lamp, tyre and emmisions placard, side intrusion bars and new tyres

thought under the old system all plates were issued by Dotars and all engineers reported back to dotars meaning that all paperwork will be archived at their office?

if not then who keeps track of all the paperwork and legal issues concerning the plates?
