Pedders has been a swear word since forever.

I wonder if different branches might be franchises.

I know that if I were an expert who owned a Pedders franchise, I'd be worried about any fly-by-nighters or even apprentices who could bring the name into disrepute.

I believe that the head of the Penrith branch does good work + he's on the committee of the Lower Blue Mtns Chrstian Car Club (associated in turn with the Nissan Sports Car Club).

they look exactly the same to the ones i purchased from option 1 in queensland. i had them on my car for more than a year and in that time i have been to Barbagello (waneroo) raceway atleast 5 times and given it a general hammering, hills runs etc and have never had any issues. nor my mechanic raise any concerns over the set up which i installed. although i am not a mechanic by any means.

from the pic you have post it looks like about 2 threads where done up and the locking nut was not tightened either and there appears to be no loctite or similar on the thread. who installed these? and why wasnt this picked up when it was aligned.

i am in no way affiliated with option 1, i am aware they are "china" however they appear to have held up very well in the application i have described above.

i would be looking at the installer and not the manufacturer / supplier

I installed them myself and got pedders to align them. it was screwed it 2 threads off the hole thing I never put lock tight on for the simple reason that it has to be adjusted and what's the point of putting lock tight on if its got to be undone was I ment to?? if had a talk to a few mates in parts shops and been looking around to try find the answer to why it happen and what I have got back so far is that there is about 50 good to 2 bad sets one of the shops had 3 lots come back with bent bars you must had just got a good set.

iv been stuck working late so I haven't had a chance to get more picks all the problem was its the thread failed and ripped out bending the top arms it was all installed and aligned correctly and this hole post was to warn people that are buying the same kinds of things to have a good look at them before putting them in cars trying to prevent people from having the headache that I'm going through now and out of pocket $1200

they would all have different workers lol just there products and service is way over priced $220 for steering alignment is a bit crazy

$135 for a seriously good job on the GTR at capital steering and susspension down ACT way.

Did camber, caster, toe and alignment

and Tez your right it depends on who's employed in the franchise so cant paint all Pedders with the same brush.

Although they dont seem to attract or have expert experience. You need a Master in the trade and some good Apprentices to keep in business.

I've seen so many of those cheaper arms do exactly what those ones have done.

There is nothing wrong with the arm other than an incorrect thread cut for the rod end.

Typically I install them and set the car up then remove the arms and weld the things together. Rod end wears out just chuck the whole arm and buy another.

that would be a perfect option the thread was the only fault

Is this implying you installed the lower arms with only two threads holding the large thread to the arm?

no opposite that when I installed it they were totally in and when it was adjusted they were turned twice extending out 2 threads

The majority of cars I've setup with these have had absolutely no need for them.

They are heavier than factory arms

They are more prone to failure

90% of them are installed incorrectly and never setup properly usually having poor rear bump steer.

They are prone to coming loose

Rod ends wear faster than ball joints

They are good for widening track and gaining camber

Correcting roll centres on some cars

Quality ones are stronger than factory on cars bouncing from ripple strips

Yeah I dare say it was an issue with pedders. Adjusted one side a bit, went to the other side and did it then forgot to tighten everything on the problem side. If you were driving normally it seems a bit coincidental that it happened just after leaving a pedders store where it had been worked on

    • OK, solid mount Z1 diff brace is in, pretty straightforward, it picks up 3 diff hat bolts and ties them to 2 support bolts on the subframe. Pretty sure someone else on here said they had reduced axle tramp with this but mine was already pretty good for smooth wheelspin, and still is....will see you this goes over time and whether I end up with a broken rear diff hat
    • Ah yes, but the part in my hand was actually painted and fitted by me! I knew any front lip was likely to be sacrificial but I've had to fix it twice already... by the time I buy a fibreglass fixing kit, sort out sandpaper blocks, buy some fibreglass filler, body bog, spend the time and effort for a 'Greg' result... a new one being $290 seems like it's the better way to go and spray that with bedliner/raptor coat and we're all pretty again.. Would have preferred it last more than a month though. Them's the breaks I suppose.
    • I find it funny that the USA is finding out all this really really weird stuff, and people from the USA are coming here treating it like gospel, yet, all the info on solving those issues is here on these forums for the last 15 odd years... Also, I know how much heat it takes to ignite the hood lining of an R33 skyline. I worked it out myself... It also took a LOT of time, and heat for it to do it... Big single, and I needed to drive the car, so retarded the timing off to "protect it". Yeah, that was a bad move for cruising on a freeway with only 15 degrees of timing on it. That was a lesson I learned around 2009. So that's over 15 odd years ago. Aligning water and oil, that's identical for any turbo engine, it's not Japanese specific. If a shop doesn't know how to make sure the core is rotated the right way, then they shouldn't be touching any turbo engine. That's not a matter of "We haven't had Skylines for that long here"...
    • Sounds like it is rotational in the driveline. CV? Tailshaft CB? Also.....didn't you just pay to have that bit painted and put on the car?
    • Yeah, when I dialled my idle down, given how much time I spent idling at the lights in traffic on my daily commute, the effect on overall fuel consumption was absolutely noticeable.
