So a friend recently purchased a R33 GTS-T, he's taken it to the pits to find out what needed to be done to get it registered it the ACT, unfortunately, they picked up that the chassis rail is damaged.

Question is, has anyone experienced a damage chassis rail and the cost in getting it repaired?

He doesn't know the extend of the damage yet.

It's booked in next week for assessment.

Cheers for your opinions.

* Sometimes the rail is irreparable > replacement of the rail OR the car can't be blue slipped

* Sometimes the section can be boxed > welded

* Sometimes a hole can be drilled through the rail > threaded > pulled down

Booked in for next week. Fingers crossed it goes well.

The RTA did say it's repairable (Whether or not he knew what he was talking about), but hopefully it is repairable, that's my main concern atm.

(OP is referring to me).

What came back as so expensive? what did they say?

It's not on paper as of yet because he didn't quote the parts (He had to ask Nissan), however, the 2k so far is for the labour, enlightenment machine ($500) and signing the paper for RTA ($500). The quote isn't down on paper due to the quote unfinished

, but I need 4 segmented parts, which is an unknown cost atm.

It feels retarded, but cheapest in town apparently. I didn't notice the damage, but it's pretty bad. What is more retarded is that the car drives perfectly fine and perfectly straight. It's just the RTA being dogs.

Does this car still have valid registration in another state? If so, which one?

+1 for pics!

It has 1 month in NSW Rego.

Once the lad gets the full quote he will send me an e-mail with everything. He just needs to make a phonecall or two.

I'm pretty much seeking a R33 SR2 rolling shell as of now, unless the quote is going to be cheaper then I expect.

Don't NSW cars need to be inspected for rego renewal? where as in ACT they can just randomly call for an inspection?

Change of ownership I'm guessing is mandatory inspect in ACT & NSW aswell. (Jeremy only just bought it)
