Hey guys I've got all the pieces together for my RB26 build, I've got JE pistons 86.5mm going in but I need a set of rods to complete the set.

Now I have afew rod choices available to me:

First is a set of Brian Crower H-Beam with arp2000 bolts

Second is a set of Scat H-Beam rod again with arp bolts,

And thirdly is a set of brand new in box but my mate doesn't need them for his build anymore is a set of ARGO I-Beam rods

Engine will be built to handle easy 500kw + and atleast 8500rpm

I've herd good things about the ARGO rods but they might be too heavy for my application?

Any relevant info regarding these rods would be appreciated

Thanks

It's pretty darn infrequent that rods will be the one thing that lets down an engine. Everything else will go boom first.

Choose the cheapest known brand you can find is my advice.

I'm putting Argo's in mine but only because I got them with my dead engine. I think they're massive overkill, I would not have used them by choice unless I was aiming for 1000hp (I'm not!). Mine are 22mm wrist pins as well which meant mandatory custom slugs.

Spend money on something other than rods IMO.

A 500kw rb26 isn't generally a response monster. There will be many other issues before the weight of rods affect anything.

The timing issues with cas will be 1 to start with..... Trigger disc it to start with

500kw engine - your going to want peace of mind so better off getting some high quality rods and the ones you have listed above are all good IMHO.

Nitto H-beam rods also good value $650 via Hi Octane racing

I beams are allegedly stronger in design compared to H beam. But to be honest, as long as you have something other than standard rods i.e forged, you can't really go wrong as oem rods are already tough.

I agree.

There was a post from a guy a while ago who compared STANDARD RB26 rods and 700hp chev rods as being very similar.

Any branded rod is more than enough for 500kw. 1000hp, then you would spend big bucks.
