So another great weekend at a local Bathurst / Mount Panorama event. This time it was the Esses Descent, run for the first time in 5 years, so of course I had to enter! There was predicted rain for a 5 day period over the weekend, but we were fortunate enough to have the sun come out for us for most of the day. We managed to get 6 runs in each by about 1:30 - 2pm when the officials decided to call it a day due to the appearance of rain getting ready to drop. As much as some more runs would have been enjoyable, I was happy to finish a couple of hours early seeing as I had the 2 hour drive home after the event.

Anyway, on to results! Some people would already be aware from the CNTS Racing Facebook page, but I had a pretty successful day. I placed 1st in my class, and claimed 2nd outright for the day!! Suffice to say I was pretty stoked. My best time came in at 40.74 seconds. The only car there that actually placed was an open wheeler formula car (apparently pushing 600hp+ lol), and with him posting a time of 30-31 seconds, and crossing the finish line at 270km/h compared to my 220-230km/h, I wasn't catching him any time soon haha.

Anyway, some pics (I'm hoping to find some more which I will post later).

I also forgot to upload my video to YouTube, so I will upload it when I get home after work, or if you are too impatient, head over to the CNTS page and check it out on there :)

And for those interested, temps on the car were much better then before! (As to be expected) Overall I don't think I saw the car go over 75-80 degrees water temp all day. The oil temps are still climbing higher as the day progress, at time up to 10 and 15 degrees higher then the water temp, but the oil cooler fitment (hopefully next week) will solve this. Safe to say I am extremely happy with the performance of the new Fenix Radiator :D

Great stuff!! Saw the news clip on FB.

When/What's the next race event?

I will be helping support a friend (Chris - also in CNTS) at Wakefield this weekend and trying to save some $$ myself.

Will be making my way to Wakefield next month some time hopefully to get a practice day in without overheating issues.

Pretty much in the final lead up to NSW Time Attack now, kind of snuck up quickly on us... so just need to get some things sorted prior to then. I'm also going to be moving to Bathurst in the next month so moving costs are setting me back a little bit.

So I haven't checked much off my list of things that need doing prior to NSW Time Attack, but I have fitted the oil cooler again and also a custom catch can.

After the dramas with the previous oil block and lines leaking I decided to get rid of it all and purchase a Greddy thermostatic oil block and Speedflow fittings and lines.

I don't have a picture of it all fitted up, but its all nice and hidden being all black.

A friend helped me make the new catch can (by help I mean he did it all lol). It currently just vents back to the intake like a normal setup, but should at least prevent any oil going back to the intake as well. I was undecided on whether to vent to atmo but as we didn't have a fitting or filter to put on the side we opted to do this and just add it later if we decide to.

I have a few parts I'm waiting on delivery of at the moment. Will post some more updates once they have arrived and are fitted. At this stage I hope to attend a Wakefield Park day on the 30th this month :)

did you baffle that can?

might need a bit more venting like mine did if you start to feed in the power

No baffles, it was a very basic design just because we knew there was some blow by in the intake. The intention was originally to vent it but I forgot to organise a filter or two before we made it.

So I have been pretty busy trying to do a last minute rush of mods in the lead up to NSW Time Attack, as well as moving to Bathurst.

I bought some second hand Evo calipers and brand new Evo X 350mm Attkd 2 piece rotors to fit up using the adaptor kit made by Alpha Omega Racing. I had the new custom braided brake lines made up locally (Stevensons Hydraulics). While at it I had the rear rotors machined and fitted fresh pads all around courtesy of Intima Performance Brake Pads. I bled the fluid with some fresh Project Mu G Four 335 fluid.

I also bought a BM57 brake master cylinder from Holford Motors but it appears to have been faulty and I have had to put the stock one back on for now (was an unfortunate waste of brake fluid :/ . Waiting to hear back from Holford at the moment on whether they will replace/refund the faulty unit.

Whilst we had the front calipers off it was decided to 'roll/flare' the front guards a bit more and as much as possible to allow for future larger fitment of wheels. It wasn't the tidiest job but it did push the clearance out a bit more.

Here is a picture of the front brakes fitted.

I am attending a Wakefield Park day on the 30th this month which is being run by NSCC, which will be a great test day for the new brake setup. NSW Time Attack is two weekends after that so doubt much will be happening before then that isn't a necessity. The only thing I foresee is the possibility of needing to replace the brake master cylinder.

Big thanks to my friends and team mates from CNTS Racing for helping get the brakes all fitted amidst my stressing of having the car ready for my move. Also for helping me move this weekend just passed. I had a couple of tyres and car parts laying around....

So I have been pretty slack with giving the next update as promised in my last big post. Unfortunately I have just been very caught up with life in a new town, my new job, and being sick.

Everything mentioned above has been completed/has arrived, however I only have one photo which is of the Takata harness fitted up in the car with the harness bar.

I will get some other pictures up soon showing the V2 splitter and new wheels (I haven't had a chance to trial fit them yet!).
Unfortunately the Hardrace LCA's took a few days longer to arrived then hoped so they still haven't been fitted and that also meant that I was unable to make it to Heasman's to have the car aligned and cornerweighted, which sucks, as I was really hoping to get this done before NSW Time Attack. I guess it is something that will be done afterwards now.
I am attending a NSCC day at Wakefield Park this Saturday which will be a shake down of the car after having all the work done - cooling, brakes, etc. I am very keen to see how it reacts. Pictures and an new PB time will follow (I hope lol).
