how much response am i loosing with the 3040 compared to the 3076

with a mix of my current set up ill have

larger pump

plazmaman intake plenum

sard 550cc injectors

3inch stainless straigh through

The difference in spool between a GT3076 and the GT3040 isn't much at all, about 100-200rpm different.

I am guessing you have the 0.63 rear?? This is going to bring the turbo on reasonably early but will limit the top end power, 290rwkw might be tight with the small rear on pump. 0.82 rear and/or E85 you will get there easily.

Same turbine. 40 stands for 82mm comp wheel. There will be a bit of differences in response and I personally believe the 82mm comp wheel is too larger for the 60mm turbine, specially in a .63 rear. will make turbine end super hot.

+1

It might also surge in lower RPMs given the front wheel. The 3040 IMO was effectively redundant when the 3076 52T came out some years ago (where the 3040 was the only option 6-7 years ago).

Also .63 rear for a GT30 - just doesn't work. Get the .82

Does that mean the 0.63 rear on my Precision 5558 is rubbish aswl? Or diff kettle of fish?

I believe yours is other way round, some thing similar to a 3576. So a large turbine wheel with a med frame comp in a small turbine housing. The large inducer and exducer of the big turbine wheel will compensate for the small housing.

Interesting :)
