What Colour To Paint My Rims?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Got a set of 17inch gmax drift 6's, 8 inch front, 9 inch rear, which are currently off the car, the tyres, and have been sanded, fixed, and nearly ready to be painted. I was just going to paint them the same colour, but seeing as of late ive been going for a black and white theme to my car, im thinking of painting the rims a black, rather than gun metal again.

Was just wondering what other people thought, and would like some opinions or ideas of other colours that may suit. Am also in the market for some black wheel nuts.

Heres a few pictures.

If someone could photoshop the rims black/a few other colours that would be much appreciated :)

I think ive decided on black but need suggestions on what finish to go. Ie matte? gloss? metallic?

If someone has the photoshop skills :P would appreciate the help as it would mean i could visualise :)

hrmmm... the thing is i was tossing up between gun metal or black, so i do want to keep it a darker colour. Thanks for your opinion though. And yes, the pics arent the best lighting-wise

Yes, my car isn't a R33, but it's still the same QM1 white paint; so....

* I wanted a genuine Nissan or Nismo colour

* This colour rim is called Nismo Black

* It's satin in texture (rather than gloss or matte)

* The rims were powder-coated with a resin that resists dust accumulation

* The job was done by Craved Coatings in Penrith

* Black wheels on white paint can affect colour balance in photographs (as in my top photo)

* Fill-in flash though creates a very nice effect as shown by Matt Everingham (as in the bottom photo)

It's still possible to get Nismo wheel nuts. They can scratch easily - and it shows.

Black RAYS Duralumin nuts are matte in texture. They still cost a lot.

But 'copies' of those Duralumin nuts can be obtained on eBay probably at about $60 a set (including lock nuts).

Genuine Duralumins or copies must not be tightened beyond 110Nm
