Nismo "rare" Lcd Screen Dash

I have one of those (so called) rare Nismo LCD screen dashes. I'm not really fond of it to be honest, as ive never had the screen working (dont have the required setup).

Basically, it came with my car when i bought it from the dealership, and it wasnt working. I noticed the screen behind the plastic casing had a bit of dust on it, so i decided to take it apart and wipe the screen. BIG mistake.

..The screen smudged at the bottom where i wiped, and left a mark which has never gone away. To be honest im not that fussed with all the "fancyness" of the dash, as id rather get a better look at what speed im doing then be looking at a blank screen at the moment.

So i was wondering...

1. Is it worth keeping? Can the screen be fixed? And if so what computer/device do i need to run something on the screen? who can install it?

or

2. Should i sell it/ swap it (and keep it in storage) with a regular stock R33 Gtst dash?

Im not really fussed by the fact the screens got a scratch to it, as right now im leaning towards finding a stock dash with regular kms and swapping it over, still keeping the nismo one. If its worth getting fixed and it can be easily, ill consider looking down that path

yeah they can be worth a bit if you can get them working.

Why dont you put some effort into that? Im sure i saw somewhere on SAU discussion on what it takes to do this.

Otherwise, what do you mean a smear? as in the LCD liquid has broken out a bit (not fixable- means the dash is worth fk all now) or just that the plastic now has a smoggy smear on it from the solvent/grime? (fixable).

Otherwise, an R33 cluster is dead easy to get hold of, dead cheap ($50-$100), and dead easy to install (put led's in at the same time to give it a bit more of a modern feel to it).

yeah the LCD screen liquid is wrecked. Thanks for your help :) I do have an old cluster, but its got lots of kms. So im in the market for one with 80 XXX kms to match my car, then do a straight swap. Thanks mate.

      Thanks for your insight, it being basically useless will impact my decision for sure. I thought it may help the engine breath better I guess. But then again, I have also been told that tuning an RB20DE is also not worth it. Exactly, we follow EU Regulations. There is a bit more leeway on older vehicles. My Porsche 924 came without a cat from factory and managed to pass, they still mentioned that I have quite high emissions on it though.

This is the sensible thing to do and the opposite of what I was alluding you were doing. I may have seen too much outrage and hate being fueled on the internet and it has made me a somewhat cynical old man. Sometimes it is easy to forget that there are real people behind websites and accounts. In my defence, CarExpert and CarExplore do read quite similarly at a glance.       Don't bother. The poor little RB20 doesn't make enough gas flow to challenge the flow capabilities of even the littlest cat, and you won't make any extra power, and all you'll do it soot up your rear bumper. Plus....is Malta not runing under Euro regs?

      Hey Daniel, sorry to hear that and thanks for posting up for us at a really hard time I only knew SmoothLine through the forums, we never met as we are based in different states, but when he was most active on here he was quite a while back so not many of the current crowd might remember him. I am pretty sure he was active in the Queensland SQU club but that is defunct now too (times are changing and we are all getting older). Farewell SmoothLine!

      Turns out depending on whether the car was equipped with TCS or not there are different signals coming to the dash, meaning there are different speedo clusters.  Wired in a speedo calibrator box from aliexpress and now works fine.
