Hi all. I just bought this Stagea today.

http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/Used-Cars/Small-Medium-Family-Prestige-Cars/AdNumber=D4020102402514

I don't know much about them being a rotary enthusiast, but I have a wife with a baby on the way and couldn't do a Camry.

Forgive me as I just signed up and will be reading all the information in the threads below in due course, but for now I wonder where you guys insure your Stagea's?

Where do you service them, and where would you recommend I go to have the car looked at to see if all is ok?

It has IMPUL and NISMO stickers in the engine bay and seems to "woosh" through whole rev range. It also has a boost controller so I assume something has been changed or do they all woosh the whole time?

Nice car mate. There is definitely a few non standard things on it. Twin exhaust being one that stands out. Thewe cars have a single exhaust standard. Inpul also can mean you have stuff like a remapped ecu. But even standard they have a fair bit of go.

Now the maybe bad bits. I bought my car from ginza the guys are dodgy for sure. The guy who does there approvals for Australia doesn't do a lot of stuff. Make sure he has Changed your tyres as that's something I caught them out on and made them replace. They also don't do any servicing so make sure you get it a very good full service. If you bought his warranty make sure you contact the provider cause with me he threw it in to close the sale but then never logged it meaning I wasn't actually covered.

Hope this has helped but yeah very nice ride hope to see it around

Thanks mate. Car was advertised for 18 and I said I'll do 15 with one year warranty.

I also had a look under it and said what it that exhaust doing attached to nothing? Not a fan. So he said he will remove it today. So that's gone.

He seemed to know less than me which is always a worry. He said it was a twin turbo and even I know it isn't.

It has these strange badges though. It says infinity across the rear and it has an infinity front badge and also says ARX-Axis in the back.

I can't see any reference to Axis model cars on the net so far?? Any idea??

No the exhaust was purely aesthetic. So it is no longer there.

It seems the Japan owner has put newer model parts on such as the front bumper and mirrors with indicators on them. That's what it seems like to me.

The car itself seems to run and sound fine but I am keen to book it into a work shop somewhere and have it serviced and assessed asap.

Do you guys have a preferred place you service your Stagea's?

I do it myself. You can also hit up Jetwreck on here. The guy is the man in Sydney for m35s. Not sure if he does much in the way of servicing but I would recommend him to you as far as someone to have a look at it

People are stupid that's why. Just be aware when removing badges. The standard ones on our cars are fitted when the paint is still soft so sometimes you will end up with raised lines around the badge. Shouldn't be an issue with the after market ones.

Thats a PNM35, i dont think its arx, it looks like axis to me and whats with the badging overload?

Nope, its an NM35 with PNM35 headlights. The VIN checks out for NM35. Its definitely an AR-X and should have the radar cruise control

Agree with Dunc ^. ARX

It is a little confused that car.

The Impul if still fitted will most likely refer to the ECU. The Impul ECU does a few special things like remove the 180km/h speed limiter, remove any boost cut and adds a bit more fuel.

The Nismo S tune sticker could be Nismo springs and shocks. If they are there, the springs are red in colour.

I notice there are a few things under the dash also.

The car is dead easy to service your self. Have a read of some of the sticky threads about servicing.

if you don't want the Infiniti Front Grille I have the standard ARX Grille here for trade.

I suspect the front bumper bar would need to be changed at the same time.

If your interested, I'd consider a swap.

My coupe has an Infiniti grille so it would kinda match up nicely.

Given that this car has had the series 2 front end fitted, better check with Cam, who did this swap previously, to find out if they are interchangable...

I do remember that this "simple" swap was a huge pain for him...

    • Not alot of room in the front or mid pipe to play with Helmholtz chambers, plus they are pretty hit and miss getting the length and volume right, and time is money when it comes to trial and error testing at a exhaust shop, it isn't like test fitting mufflers or resonators From previous experience with exhausts and trying to tone down the volume and eliminate some drone, a resonator in the mid pipe typically make it much better,  and even possibly stop Jackie complaining about it, me, I really don't notice it that much, but, I am pretty deaf 🤣
    • I know it's an entirely different engine, but I noticed practically 0 difference removing or adding 2x 3in (5inch body) 400cell cats (one in each bank) with regards to sound. So changing the cat to change drone I suspect will have very very, very, very, very, very very minimal impact.
    • 200 cell cat will probably help. Do you have room to tee off a Helmholtz resonator anywhere along the exhaust? These can do wonders for drones, with a little experimentation with regards to length.
    • The car revs up through the gears much better/faster now, and fuel consumption doesn't really seem to have be affected either on a Hwy cruise, which wasn't expected  The FAB9 intake manifold has been problematic sourcing though, I've contacted Plasmaman to ask about their intake, which you can get different runner lengths spec'd, and, their different options for throttle bodies  The only real physical drawback with the Plasmaman intake is how to connect it to my current OEM style airbox, as FAB9 make a OEM style back half of the airbox to suit the larger diameter throttle body, and all that is required is a 30°bend silicone pipe to mate the throttle body to the airbox Car also goes in for some exhaust work in a week or so to fit the biggest resonator they can fit clearance wise in the front pipe to help remove some of the drone, there isn't alot of realestate under there, a rough guesstimation is it will only be about 3-400mm long and maybe 90-100mm diameter, and with a 60mm exhaust that doesn't leave alot of space for the internal volume of the resonator to do its thing I'm thinking I may need to bin the "high flow" 100 cell cat for something a bit more substantial, yeah, and restrictive, like a 200-400 cell, to help, but, I have ample room for a really large bodied cat to replace the current one which has around a 4" diameter body I may look around in the recycling bins and see if I can find a massive newish cat that was "replaced" with some new full exhaust system that the local exhaust shop in Western Sydney is doing
