Is Chris Rogers still the font of all knowledge regarding the m35 stereo system ? The guy at cronulla car sound told me to ring a Chris at I think it was audio works, but I can't seem to find much info on it.. There again, I am slightly daft when it comes to google [emoji12]

I'm trying to find out options of retaining the stereo or go aftermarket.. I have read plenty of posts where I saw there was plenty of attempts at making it Australian friendly, but not a final result, so I'm guessing it can't be done

Many thanks in advance

Making the stereo Australian friendly? I presume you mean with an FM expander so it can pick up most of our stations.

Pretty much anyone can install one of these, just a bit of fiddling around behind the stereo.

If you want to run an iPod, you can install a USA Spec doc or Grom unit while you are back there.

If you mean you want to remove the factory item, take a look around for a G35 double din fascia (or get one from Japan).

They use the same fascia as our Stageas.

Then you can install the double din head unit of your choosing. Pretty sure you may need an adaptor for a lot of head units though.

So can I assume that means no one ended up cracking the gps/menus to convert to English ? Would be great to retain what I can, maps would be insanely tops... I am sure I'm backing over old ground, but whether I'm inept at searching the forums or it's not there, I haven't been able to find it

I installed one of these on my 03 350GT coupe. The factory head units have a spare jack for an external cd changer which is what these plug into. USB drives, android and apple devices all plug in and play through a usb cable, or over bluetooth if you buy the extension. (I did) Tracks can be switched and volume controlled using the factory controls (Including steering wheel controls if you have them) The cable included can be routed into the glovebox easily enough, with no need for drilling extra holes. The unit itself can be hidden away inside the center console beneath the head unit.

I'm currently looking into a custom android tablet to replace the factory nav screen, which will connect to the grom unit by USB.
