So had the car into an ultratune (rip off merchants of the earth) to be put over a diagnostics machine to find out what is wrong with this stupid gearbox the pricks charged me 106.45 for mayb 15 minutes "work" ie plug machine into obd2 port.

Anyway, it returned the errors codes for shift solenoid a&b and torque converter lock up failure. They basically told me to fark off as the had no interest in dealing with the issue any further. So now I'm back to square one, ill be checking the transmission fuse this arvo (as it only just occurred to me that it could be blown), other than the I guess it's anyone's guess as to what's wrong and just start with trial and error

THE PROBLEM: no 1st or 4th gear even when manually trying to select them, car takes off in 3rd unless you physically lock it in 1st or second in which case it starts in 2nd gear.

(Could be a faulty shift solenoid... I duno )

If anyone has experience with a 4l60e gearbox help is appreciated

Torque converter has a solenoid aswell in the valvebody, you can get an upgraded valve to improve the lockup but it involves a rather expensive reamer.

If you do it, split the filter and check for material in there when you pull it off.

Have you got an oil cooler in there for the trans?

May get to have a look at it on the weekend, but being Easter I doubt it :(

I do have quite a large transcooler mounted in the lower right air duct of the front bar, it's not fan forced but its location would provide a hell of alot of airflow at speed (ill get some pics up of it later)

not with your front bar mate.... my engine temps dropped a couple degrees whn i swapped to mspec.

Dude u can see the sucker lol, I'm positive it's getting air....

You need ducting. Would really help. Cooling doesn't matter so much about whether air can get to the cooler as it does about whether the air actually goes through the cooler, ie. the path of least resistance. You've got low pressure zones all around your cooler with it mounted like that, so a lot of the air will simply get sucked around the cooler rather than through it. Given you will get some cooling benefit, but if you make up some ducting to guide ALL the air through the cooler then you will see much better results.

Tried mounting the cooler horizontal so length ways instead of up and down to make use of that entire gap in the vent? Also just curious how much the vynil wrap was as im thinking of camoing my track car :P Great build love the sound of a V8, needs a chev badge to ;)

The vinyl was installed by Steve the owner of Wrapture stylings here in Brisbane, I dropped the car off and picked it up about 5 days later, total cost installed was around 2g which I realise is quite expensive but for what it is it looks good :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Quick photo from the cruise the other day with some on lookers (the car stood out like canine testicles amongst all the other drab grey/white/black/marron cars)
