I've enjoyed having the car back and driving it over the past week, makes me appreciate it more when it's been off the road

So the only thing I've got left to buy is a plazmaman plenum and TB to go with the rest of the upgrades that will go in sometime after trackday next month

I've been looking at a few cosmetic things over the past few days, just to tidy the car up a bit. One thing I've been looking at and reading up on is putting RB26 covers on the 25 head

The 26 covers do look better and from what I've read it is doable with little to no modification.

Just something to think about over the next few months

I've noticed since getting the turbo rebuilt that I'm getting like a surging feeling when slowly bringing the car on boost around 3-4k rpm. It was happening before I blew the turbo but it wasn't this bad

I thought it could of been few things, fuel pump letting go, BOV starting to die, wastegate on the turbo being a bit flimsy.

I did notice that for some unknown bloody reason, the boost solenoid was burnt....

Thinking this was the cause (hoping actually lol) I went and picked up a second hand one from SKyline Spares, changed it over and took the car for a drive. Hoping for a quick $30 fix was too much, this wasn't the cause.

So after a service last night myself and my mechanic took the car for a spin. Once he felt what the car was doing around 3-4k rpm he knew it was the BOV causing the problem. So we'll fit this up either friday or saturday.

My best at EC is 13.6 and I've been told by my mates and mechanic that with the power the car has got, my times should be a little better than this.

Perfect launch, perfect gear change, foot to the floor but I could never get any better than 13.6, so I've always put this down to my driving on the night and never really thought it could be a problem with the car

After diagnosing the surging feeling in the car last night, my mechanic decided to "test the car". 1st and 2nd gear feels really strong but when in 3rd, it's lacking some power.

So either the cams aren't keeping up, maybe the stock ones are too small for the GTRS or the VCT is causing the problem (I know the VCT is playing up as this was one of the things Scott @Insight mentioned)

We'll play around with the car on friday and saturday and see if we can work this out

At least I know now the crappy times at EC isn't me :D

Another SAU trackday has come and gone. I had a blast!!!

I knocked off 3 seconds off my PB from last year in the first session, now at a 1:15

My best each session was in the 1:15 which I am happy with.

I had Nick (levinboy) jump in with me for a passenger session. Even though I didn't knock off any big times after having him in the car, I did learn a lot and it gives me a fair bit to work on for next time

Its all about learning mate!

With the mods you have lined up in the near future you will be taking chunks off your PB in no time!

I need to learn to watch out for you on the track :P

    • I wouldn't be concerned at all, other than to suggest having them flow tested when you receive them to confirm they are reasonably similar, and then put the highest to lowest flowing ones in cylinder 6,1,5,2,4,3
    • I’m only posting this cause I thought I had seen a bad review on these somewhere before. Any feedback? Would you guys recommend that if I do buy these I send em to RC to have em checked before installing. Or any other suggestions?   https://www.ebay.com/itm/114009965865?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=JDl-15yLQ8C&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=QTzlFXB1S-S&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
    • They see me rollin' they hatin'....... Took me most of the day to make the necessary mods to the mounts to make them fit the car.  Fortunately I was able to just use the mounts that came with the rotisserie. The rear ones are really secure, the front I feel i might reinforce a bit more as it doesn't seem like enough attachment to the vehicle. I'm sure it's fine but better to be safe than (extremely...) sorry.  I drilled and tapped thread into additional M12 holes to each car mount where it attaches to the rotisserie as an extra fail-safe. Without them the side to side movement is just restricted by the allen head pinch bolts, nothing actually goes though the beam. Does now! I still need to adjust the rotisserie to get the car centred in terms of centre of gravity. If it's too high or too low relative to the rotational centre line of the car, it will be like a turtle and roll onto its back or as it currently sits, I dont think I'd be able to rotate it as it sits as it needs to lift the whole car up as it rotates. Ain't happening... I'm going to be nervous as hell the first time I go to spin it on its side...
    • Oh yes done this when the window started flopping around.  Turns out the guides that run along the rail chanel had crumbed way. Took off the door card and pulled out the window mech, then the window, which you have to pull out through the top. As said unbolt the guide rail and don't spend 30 minutes getting frustrated trying to find a way to slide it out upwards cause that don't frigging work. Drop it down and out through the door hole. All I did to repair it was slice some 10mm clear plastic tube, vertically, then screw it to the guide rail both sides. This tubing rolls inward on both sides and leaves a gap wide enough to hold the window. To finish all I did was lube the plastic tube with olive oil and Bob's your uncle . . . well if he has the operation he can be your Aunt ! !  10 bucks in plastic tube and another 5 minute job done again . . . . YEH BULLSH#T ! My love for Skylines knows no bounds !
    • So was there a solution to this problem? I’m having this issue now.
