I've had my R32 GTR off the road since 2010. I attempted to get it re-registered a few months ago, and was informed that there was no compliance plate on the car. There is a plate in the engine bay, but apparently it's not a certified compliance plate (it's supposed to be yellow or another colour? In case you're wondering, it's blue). So without this plate, apparently I need to get my car engineered, and to do this I've reinstall seat belts and a few other bits and pieces, and in the meantime I'm having the whole car resprayed as there were a few spots of rust the engineer wasn't happy with. I expect the car to come out of the panel beater in about two weeks, but I have heard there have been some changes to registration laws with regards to imports that have been unregistered for extended periods of time. Does anyone have any more information about this? Is there any other issues that may arise in trying to get my care registered? I really don't want to spend more money on tyres, eng certificate and other bits and pieces only to find out it's registerable.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Some 32s came in via the old 15 year rule, so don't have compliance plates. As soon as you let registration lapse or try to register them interstate, expect to have your arse handed to you. We deal with it on a regular basis in SA, where they refuse to look at them until they've been engineered, THEN been for a full pit inspection.

Anyone know if this is the case in NSW? I had planned on having the car engineered and then obviously a blue slip, I don't believe we have 'pits' in NSW.

Would the RTA be any help in this case?

Quick update, just spoke to the RTA, apparently it needs an engineering cert and a blue slip and I'm good to go as I have already had the car registered in NSW.

I'll update this thread once it's got rego. Thanks guys

How did you go with this Jimmy?

I've been searching for info on re-registering my GTS-t which has been off the road for many many years, came across your thread.

I'm still not 100% on going through with it if the whole process is going to be drawn out and expensive. Especially since I have to get the motor going again first before I can approach anything.
