benelli
oddly enough if you're in a bind the starter for the RB20 is interchangeable with an oem nissan forklift starter part number: 23300-00H10. Couple guys here in Canada have bought the forklift starter, installed it, and it worked fine. Price was between $150AUD-$170AUD http://jdhco.en.alibaba.com/product/292217348-209895746/starter_motor_H20_H25_A31_RB20_RB25_NISSAN_PART_Forklift.html Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/423149-rb20det-starter-motor-compatibility/#findComment-6813201 Share on other sites
CalvinHeidenreich
has anyone else got any input on this, I did hear on the grapevine that most rb engines starters are compatible so some confirmation would be great, if rb30 ones are compatible I have a few here, and I do notice the difference between rb30 and the et version i am also in need of replacing my starter on my auto rb20det as well and most jap wreckers want way too much for one Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/423149-rb20det-starter-motor-compatibility/#findComment-6861411 Share on other sites
StevenCJR31
i swapped the r32 (auto) rb20det starter motor for one out of a r32 (manual) rb25de starter no problems at all if you have a rb30e starter and not sure if its fits on a 20 then give it a try Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/423149-rb20det-starter-motor-compatibility/#findComment-6861489 Share on other sites
HR32GTS 4DOOR
I have an rb25 starter on my rb25 with an rb20 gearbox so Id say they are interchangeable since its the gearbox that it bolts to not the engine and the sandwich plate for an rb20 box is the same for a 25 box. Also they look identical. FYI I have a starter off a 1993 ford festiva in the shed, the bolt pattern and the gear is the same just the solenoid is in a different spot. CalvinHeidenreich
no worries guys, I got one from a 25 as my brother had one lying around so will get to changing it soon Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/423149-rb20det-starter-motor-compatibility/#findComment-6863883 Share on other sites
jiffo
I ran a 30 starter on my 20 forever. 30 is a geared starter though so it spins a bit slower than the 20, but it bolts up and works fine. Rb30 starter is also shorter and your standard Rb20 cable will be really stretched. StevenCJR31
Rb30e starter is in fact much larger than the rb20det starter. .so wiring should reach just fine and it will bolt up just fine Rather than get a secondhand starter that might crap out on you ... new ones (for rb30e) arent that expensive (mine is an ENDURO) and comes with a 3 year/75, 000k warranty Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/423149-rb20det-starter-motor-compatibility/#findComment-7193671 Share on other sites

Ben C34
I can't confirm, but think there is a difference with the awd meaning the starter is different. If that is right, I would assume a stagea awd one would fit no worries Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/423149-rb20det-starter-motor-compatibility/#findComment-7206698 Share on other sites
Dan_J
^maybe if its got something to do with the pull/push clutch slave differences in the r33 stuff but r32 gts4 is the same as gts/t also found the fork lift starter thats ment to work on rb's as suggested above www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-TCM-FG9N-FG10N-FG25N-H20-2-0L-H15-1-5L-Forklift-H-Duty-Starter-Motor-/160842749937?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2572f997f1 Edited February 23, 2014 by Dan_J Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/423149-rb20det-starter-motor-compatibility/#findComment-7208325 Share on other sites
