was intrested in know the first signs of a clutch shitting itself.

the other nite i was at a mates workshop n pulled a nice burnout, but when i changed in second there was major slippage! i took my foot of the accelerator 4 a sec then put it back on n still it was slipping, anyways when i got home it stunk so bad, (not the normal clutch smell) 10x worse.

when driving normally theres no problem, but when i boot it, it feels a lil slower than it should b goin at higher revs,

also when i down gear into 2nd doin round 50km/h i can smell the clutch again.

is my clutch on its way out?

should i start saving 4 another?

or do i still have a while b4 it will need changing?

thanks in advance

john

smells like fish when frying the clutch.

You can tell if you drive at like 60k's, put it in 5th gear and floor it. If the revs jump but speed doesn't, then you're in trouble. if not you could be aight for a while.

Also, rev the car up to like 5000-5500 before changing and see if the revs jump up then settle back down. If they do jump up, then its slipping.

Yeah I had the same thing, it felt a little funny on the way to work (~40km), and I almost didn't make it home... It happened as got a near perfect launch the previous day, and burnt the stock clutch from excess slippage on take off. The was still a bit of meat on the clutch, but I had glazed it so bad, there was barely any friction.

My advice is NOT to accelerate hard under any circumstances to prolong it until you have a chance to change it, otherwise your car will soon be undriveable...

mate the same thing happened to me once, what i think you have done is glazed the surface of your clutch...u might still have a fair bit on it but you will need to change it sooner or later... Soon after that happened in the mornings the clutch would shudder a bit untill it warmed up, you will have a month or so of use, but it will start pissing you off soon so an exedy single plate is a good idea...
