Just a quick question about my car and eligibility in NSW CAMS Supersprints. Currently my R32 GTR is unregistered and is fitted with a halfcage. Having a look at the regs I'm not really sure what category I fit into (or if I fit at all for that matter)

Type 1
Unmodified Production Cars (excluding Four Wheel DriveTurbos, Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas), where the onlyfreedoms relate to safety, engine reconditioning, tyres and some cosmetic items.
Type 2
Modified Road-Registered Vehicles (excluding Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas), allowing originally available options and limited modifications to engines, suspension and tyres.
Type 3
Competition vehicles based on Group 3 - Improved Production Cars rules as defined in the CAMS Manual.
Minor additional freedoms are allowed to recognise that there will be some roadregistered vehicles competing, that cannot meet full 3J rules.
Type 4
Competition vehicles based on Group 3D Sports Sedan rules as defined in the CAMS Manual. In addition, any vehicle that conforms to Type 1, 2, 3 or SV requirements, apart from Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas,
shall be permitted to employ or use Race Tyres but if it does so it shall be classified as a Type 4 vehicle.
Type 5
Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas (whether Road Registered or not) using Race Tyres, Racing Cars,SportsRacing Carsand Sports Racersor as classified by the NSWSupersprint Panel.
Type 6
Highly modified mass produced vehicles commonly knownas “Time Attack” vehiclesthat are modified specifically forthe performance of fast lap times and not for racing.
Type SV
Road registered vehicles with no limit on modifications.

The car is not logbooked, and currently is on semi's. What class would I be able to run in?

First of the above post is incorrect, type one excludes AWD turbo cars, type 3 you will need to prove your running standered boost or have a CAMS turbo monitor with turbo restrictors as per improved production regulations. Tyres are not a big a deal in any class but can run slicks in type 4.

Main problem you have being unregintered is you will requier a CAMS log book to be able to enter the supersprint series.

If you get or have a CAMS log book then i would recomend to run in Type 6 under the Time Attack Class or if you want to use full slick run type 4. If you run in type 3 your boost and any mods are closly monitored and will most likely need turbo restrictors.

Thanks for that. So cars racing under 3J regs are closely scruitneered on race day then? I wasn't sure they would go to that much effort for a super sprint. Looks like I am going to log book my car anyway, still deciding whether its worth running 3J or not. Thanks for your help :)

I am now logbooking my car as a 3D sports sedan. For super sprints and just regular track days, will I need to wear a flame retardant race suit and gear?

Or can I get away with long sleeves etc?

The CAMS NSW Supersprint Series has made a rule to wear a race suit, but will let single layer go kart suit and non-flammable mechanic overalls pass.

So your best to get a single layer go kart suit of eBay for under $100 or pick up some overalls like King-gee...

Thanks for that, I'll probably just get a proper nomex suit as I'll need for iRace anyway. What about helmets? All I have is a shitty $100 job from a motorbike shop.

Also, Brad mentioned earlier that Clubsprints were a bit more relaxed. Are clubsprints the ones on the website hosted by the WRX club etc?

There's a few CAMS supersprints coming up and I need to logbook my car to enter. It appears my options are Type 3 (3J), Type 4 (3D) or Type 6 (Time attack).

What would be the easiest class to log book my car for? Obviously 3J is the most difficult, but I guess it would be the most competitive for my car.

How competitive is the Time Attack class? Do many of the big guns show up?

As for running in Type 3, will they actually check for boost monitoring etc? I expect to be way behind the pack as far as times go, so i don't think I'll be raising any eyebrows from fellow competitors.
