Your XT has the metal air pump.

Mine had a plastic one that permitted leakage of air into cylinder 1 and maybe 2 leading to corrosion if not rectified quickly. It would throw those two codes and impair cruise control.

So your XT never had that problem.

And by 2008, Subaru had gone back to a metal pump.

I dont think pre XT forester actually has a metal air pump. I dont think it even has any at all thats why he has no code.
