What Is This Unit For?

Hey guys,

I've found this unit upon removing the interior of the boot for sound deadning removal what exactly is it for? my best guess is with a bit of searching is that this unit is fuel pump related is that correct? it sits just behind the drivers rear guard on the inside of the boot would anyone care to elaborate what this does exactly and if I can completely remove it if I was to hardwire my fuel pump for a constant 14v power. I would say that I could,

According to Nissan FAST, that part number "17001-04U10" says it is an "R32, Modulator-Fuel Pump Control" so perhaps you are correct.

All good I can't see any problems arising from removing this an replacing it with a good relay setup.
