Morning chaps.

Yesterday, I took delivery of my new 2002 Nissan Stagea Axis Autech model from Northshore Prestige. Having recently sold my R34 Skyline due to not being able to fit film gear in the Liner, I went on the search for a new car. I was looking for something cool, auto, with a bit of power, upgradeability, comfort and most of all, space to fit all the things. After having driven a few different cards (VE Wagon, Legnum, etc) I went and saw Ben from Northshore Prestige, and took the car for a drive. It basically ticked all the boxes, and I left a deposit on it that day. Its done 104ks.

After having the car for 1 day, my initial thoughts are as follows.

1) The suspension/body roll is horrible. I will definitely be investing in some swaybars to stiffen the body roll up a little bit.

2) The seating position is rather high. I would ideally like to put some lower seats in, but its not a HUGE issue.

3) The auto gearbox is one of the most sluggish POS's that I have ever experienced. This is something that will definitely get attended too.

4) The car feels very restricted. I would imagine freeing up the intake and exhaust will make it breath much better.

Other then that, I'm really happy with it. It talks to me in Japanese everytime I turn the car on as well, which was pretty unexpected at first.

I'd like to get a new dash facia so that I can fit an aftermarket head unit with bluetooth and ipod connectivity as well.

Can anyone tell me what wheels these are? They seem to be factory Nissan 18"s.

Hai new stag owner!

Great purchase. Looks clean as.

If you haven't already the forum has all the information you need for most of the points you listed.

Daleo for swaybars and brace. Justjap I think for BC coilovers?
Jetwreck for shift kit.
Scotty for dump and front pipe.

Unsure of the wheels? Look like wheels off an AR-X or something?

Fascia kits are available off ebay and I'm sure there is a thread where you can use aerpro harnesses to accommodate a new head unit for the things you mentioned.

Hey buddy,

Yep, been in contact with Scotty already about a dump/mid pipe. Will be throwing some cash his way as it becomes available. I have read all the positive results from Jetwrecks valve body upgrade, and will also be doing that as soon as possible.

Will hit up Daleo for the swaybars. I don't particularly want to go coilovers, so maybe just get some lowered springs. I saw there was a gent on here selling a set of eibachs for $200 at the moment. Also, brake wire cut mod is on the list of things to do.

Cheers,

Shaz

Congrats on the purchase.

Wheels are stock AR-X rims.

Goods springs are nismo ones. The rest pale in comparison IMO. Had eibachs, wouldn't go back. Your in the right track with the other things. Get some good pads and fluid in it to get the most out of the stock brakes.

Had an EZlip left over from a whole heap that I brought into Aus, so I chucked it on the front bar. I generally do this with most of my cars, as it stops the majority of scrapes and scratches on the front bar when bottoming out.

Looks okay too!

    • But if I smoke test 5th cylinder it’s all ok, no leaks  when I try with 2nd it’s leaking exhaust and intake, it doesn’t come from oil dip stick.    so maybe when car was running poorly, rich or sth. Spark plugs were black and covered in charcoal or sth lookalike. could potential contamination make valves not seal properly? is there also a possibility that rb’s don’t have equal performing cooling passages  meaning back of the engine will be hotter than front. Can this cause improper wear if engine was running under load for short time? Or carbon build up could just burnt from 4-6 and is still on 1-3?   I out of my head like really. Timing is as manual crank-exhaust 47, exhaust-intake 38 at this point I thinking about give it a try and make another 500-1000km and check if anything change, if not I will most likely disassemble engine head /or whole engine and send it back to rebuild. It’s killing me
    • Thanks Duncan, I don't have a GTR these days mate. Gone soft..
    • Yeah. air pressure leakdown test is where I would be headed next here, using one's ears to determine whether it's the valves or bores/rings leaking...
    • More likely you didn't bed the rings in correctly and have glazed the bores. Running with misfires on a fresh build is somewhat of a no-no. Surely no-one "smoke tests" the combustion chamber? That's what a leakdown test is for. Smoke testing is, um, a bit of a wank at best, and only really useful for external pipework.
    • Well, obviously that kit is not a relocation kit or anything other than just the original isolators and the like. I would suggest that it should be a matter of just bending up some flat bar to build a mount over the top of some other diff, with the flat bar held to the back of the diff by the rear hat bolts. A little welding, a little thinking about how to secure the front of this structure, maybe some different hoses in case you can't get it in just the right place.
