Probably need to put adjustable caster arms on so you can pull the wheel forwards a little. That helps your room issue and gives more caster which is a good thing.

But in general, the usual cause is someone has hit something and bent a lower arm a little bit, or moved the front subframe against the chassis rails. I would suggest taking it to a good chassis specialist (the sort of guy that crash repairers will send a car to when they can't get it to drive straight. If you were in Adelaide I could give you a place to go to) and get them to have a good look at it and work out whether it has a problem or if you are just trying to go too wide and paying the inevitable price for doing so.

Stable Wheel Alignment, Pooraka. John there can be hard to deal with, but he knows his shit.

yeah I know the one there not too keen on imports there.

I gave them a call and they can give an wheel alighnment but won't be able to tell if the chassis is out. Just try and correct the alignment. :(
