So I've been reading a lot in the suspension thread and the majority here had lowered their cars with coilovers but very little when it comes to lowered springs. So my question is, putting a lowered spring but retaining the standard shocks how long before all the supporting components starts wearing out prematurely? Tires, bushes, shocks etc etc. Also I've read that ARX had HICAS and a slightly higher suspension set-up and some suggested against lowering them. My car wont be use as a track car, but I want to slightly lower it to stop that titanic feeling when cornering. Wheel alignment will be done after lowering it too.

Need constructive feedback on this topic. Cheers

Mines not a Stag but i have been running stockies with Tein Springs 40 drop front 25 rear for several years with no reliability problems , my R34 corners better than my mates who have coilovers .

Only problem i found is spring binding and rear bounce due to short travel of the stockies being compressed all the time , i have now put Bilsteins in with tein Springs and its better again , one big thing i can say is coilovers have a ridiculous short lifespan and are illegal as f**k hence why i stuck to struts .

My BC's have been going strong for over 4 years, no issues here. My shocks were well shagged before I swapped.

You can't just drop heavy lowered springs under your car and expect the stock shocks to handle it, even if they are in good condition. You need to match the dampening to the spring, easier with adjustable coilovers obviously.
