Hi all,

Im aware that the 99/00 Bayside Blue GTR's have a black engine bay.

However looking at these pics below of the radiator support bar, on the far left and far right there seems to be a tinge of blue?

For all 99/00 Bayside Blue GTR's owners can you confirm that this is normal or not?

Appreciate all your help & advise, Thank you.

What does the build plate say.

I don't own one but to me it does not appear right.

I do not believe Nissan would over spray like that, and then let it pass QA.

Check for other tell tale signs of damage would be my advice.

Although it may have been done by a previous owner for "cosmetic" reasons.

Looks like normal over/under spray to me. Those areas don't have the same paint QA for the final coat as the exterior so some variation between cars is ok.

That said the unpainted washers on your fender bolts aren't original though...

Not factory overspray. The engine bays on v specs should be bone stock black. Before I bought my v spec ii I inspected an "immaculate" B.BLUE v spec and when I looked under the bonnet one side of the bay was black and the other side that was being hidden under one of those mechanics scratch sheets was blue!! Shifty mother f***** But anyways, I checked out maybe another 5 v specs and all their engine bays were clean black

Hi all,

I spent hours last night googleing 99 Model Bayside Blue engine bays and I couldn’t seem to identify what was the “standard” is! Its driving me crazy!

See the below pics and as example:

Driver side fender & passenger side fender is in a solid blue

Sighting of blue on both sides of the Radiator Support Bar

No sightings of blue on the Radiator Support Bar

V-spec I don't have colour coded engine bays. This was a "luxury" update that was introduced from V-spec II onwards. A quick call to Nissan Japan will confirm this for you......or you can spend hours searching Google

^ This.

Also, where the panels are bolted onto the chassis (and where you cant see when the bonnet is closed)....this part of the panel will be more of a flat blue colour with only a hint of metallic....as Nissan did this to save costs. Same thing goes for S15. Makes it a smoother transition for the "flat" colour of the engine bay. if they are complete metallic then chances are they've been resprayed.

^^ You can rule that one out as that GTR has Nismo Z-Tune Front Guards.

So they would have just painted the whole guard Bay Side Blue.

Thanks for clearing that up mate.

The car attached in my post does have the FACTORY "light/faded blue" on black overspray (that you refer) on the radiator support at the ends where it meets the inner fenders which also has the FACTORY "light/faded blue" on black (that you refer) that runs up the inner fender (where the bolts are) - How do I know - well it is my car :) (The dark light in which the picture was taken does not show it well).

I think what is confusing your results is the light in which the photo's of the cars are taken (that you refer to) and one has aftermarket Z Tune fenders fitted!

CONFIRMING Bayside Blue (V SPEC - 99 Models) SHOULD have the FACTORY "light/faded blue" on black overspray on the ends of the radiator support and the FACTORY light/faded blue on black on the inner fenders. SHOULD BE VERY LIGHT BLUE - slight metallic too (to both radiator support ends and inner fenders)!

I have personally seen over 10 Bayside Blue GTR's and know them inside out!

This should clear up the issue for you!

Cheers

No problems GZILAH

I have attached a photo of a 5,000km R34 GTR 1999 Bayside Blue V Spec engine bay :) note the slight light blue FACTORY overspray on the corner of the radiator support.
