Hi all. I recently bought an R33 GTR making 320awkw with a power fc. The guys at the tuning shop that I usually go to suggested that I upgrade to an Adaptronic, which I did. The car is making more power now (345kw), but it takes so long for boost to come on now, especially during gear changes. Seriously, it is like somebody puts the brakes on straight after I've changed gears. The car has -7 turbos, forged internals, adjustable cams, etc. Has anybody else had this problem before? Boost came on so much faster with the power fc.

345kw from -7s probably means a happy dyno. Were both dyno runs at the same shop? Can you post the dyno readout?

What was the rationale for going to Adaptronic over PowerFC ? Seems like an odd thing to do from a bang for buck standpoint....

Can you PM the name of the shop?

The 2 readings were from different shops. My goal is to upgrade to a single turbo. The guys at the first shop told me that an ecu without afm is the way to go (to be completely honest, I'm a bit if a noob). I can't post the dyno printout, due to the tuning shop name being on there.

I got my tune at the same place you got the 345kw tune (which is a highly regarded shop). FWIW i have 305kw @ 17 psi with -7s, but I asked for a safe & responsive tune (and i'm very happy with it). No-one cares about putting up dyno sheets with the shop name on them. You should ask the shop why its laggier - might be something as simple as cam timing giving you more power futher up the rev range has traded off response, or perhaps it was pinging so they backed off the timing. Also ask them if they think you have -7s (do you KNOW they are -7s or is that what a previous owner told you?).

Yeah I would say they took timing out of it so they could get more boost in and make a higher final reading (thus making you think they did an awesome job)! Depends what you asked for. If you asked them to tune for higher peak power, then they did that. If you asked them to tune for the fat power curve - they might have tuned differently.
