does anyone know when the car switches from cold start map to regular map? is it done off the water temp?

car always runs like crap until it is warm, i.e you have to rev the crap out of it to get up to speed.

Yes, it is done off the coolant temp. No, there is no "cold start map" as such. There are a variety of enrichments and other adjustments that are done on top of the fuelling values out of the normal map whilst cold. Same with the timing. The main one with the timing is that it is clamped at a fixed value (like the static 15 degrees sort of value) until the engine is above 60degrees or something similar.

There has in fact been a lot of discussion about this in the past on here, with particular reference to Nistune. So have a search.

It is progressive based on the coolant temp sensor. The one with 2 wires is used by the ecu. It doesn't just reach a certain temp and instantly "switch" to another map.

I am running an auto ecu as well which is usuall 20deg instead of 15
