Some Vic ppl like to stay in Vic, which is fair enough. Victoria, it's the place to be! :) so i thought i'd post this here as well.

Yes, i know, ANOTHER black R34 GT-T :D But plans are underway, and hopefully will stick out from the crowd and be unique.

It's been a long time peeps, and even though u guys haven't been all snobby just cos i don't have a Skyline, still feel like part of SAU more now that i've bought one.

cheers everyone!

hehe, thanks shan, greg. Yes the wing is a little "out there" i might find a happy home for it, cos it sure ain't going to be my home :)

yeah greg, bit of step up from the 1.6ltr Pulsar :D

ah yes shan... i remember you have the Dupont prices/catalogue for all Nissan paint codes or something?? I'd be VERY interested in how much some TV2 would cost, do you know how much i would need? Maybe i can get an Iridium finish on the car to match my Oakleys :( heheh

i do have the dupont catalog, but it dosen't have prices, I was taking to Gareth n he was sayin it'd be cheaper to get the paint mixed up locally at a paint shop, he recommended one in Pasco Vale or somewhere...

I'm thinkin of gettin some Midnight Purple 2 mixed up.

go Midnight Purple 3!!!

if it was getting mixed up, is it spot on? Like, you either get TV2 or u don't? There's no, it's nearly the right colour? Will it still change colour slightly depending on the light? Cos i know TV2 looks changes a little.

midnight purple 3 looks a bit homosexual to be honest. And as for the mix, apparently these guys are so good that its hard to spot the difference. And a lot of guys go there to geth their factory colours remade. Besides I got all the paint codes of all the layers you need to make it up, so shouldn't be too hard.

midnight purple II and III are harliquin colours TV2 bayside blue is nothing special in the way of tinters its a group 3 colour though. In regards to any colours from any fomular from any paint supplier for any vehicle! There never right. Not even the factory touch up samples are right.

haha, so if you bought from direct from Dupont you'd have a better chance of a closer match? Does Nissan get all their paint from Dupont, so technically u'd be getting factory paint?

oh and troy, not sure if you've looked at the pics of the car from the link, but apparently the heinously ugly rear wing is BOLTED onto the sides of the car! i thought if u unbolted the middle pillars it would be off, apparently not. Is it a lot of work to fill in some holes, and clean up the area where it was bolted?

cheers.

those holes should be easy to fix up with bog.

as for the colours, the original nissan colours were made by dupont, so using the dupont colour composition codes I should theoretically be able to get an authorised reseller of dupont paints to mix up the correct batch innit? only prblem is it dosen't give me concentrations etc, so if they thinned out one layer etc you wouldn't know until you tried it on the car hey?

Chinny - leave it black and see if we can't get more SAU Vic members with Black R34 GT-T's than what we have with Midnight Purple R33 GTR's!

Just Kidding

But congrats man - you have definitely been waiting a loooooong time for this.

Call me crazy but I thought R34's were not available under RAWs yet (Complience that is.) The reason I ask is I was thinking of doing the same a couple of months ago and was told that nobody has completed the engineers report under the ADR guidelines with the new laws in place. In fact there was an ad from a big complience shop on the forum recently to buy a R34 for them, they would do the engineers report for free so that they were able to start bringing them in under RAWS. Anyway just curious....

Thanks everyone. and Jevan, the guy who wanted a R34 for free compliance? I took that  But downside is that i have to wait for their vehicle inspection to come around. But i do save a fair bit of money, hard to say no to free compliance.

Mobility Engineering in Sydney and Cross over car conversions in Melbourne are currently doing R34's. With Calcars hopefully ready to go in a few months (the place where my car is going). When is the next autosalon by the way? I have a few things planned and the car "maybe" worthy enough...

Still waiting for Dale to start a rant about the number of black GT-T's :) j/k

Yep been a looong time, basically the "Join Date" for SAU plus a few months, that's how long.

    • It's unfortunate what Tomei USA has done to Tomei's name in general. I'm very weary of ordering parts from them now. I only order direct from a Japanse source (e.g Nengun). At least their logos are different, so you end up knowing what you have.
    • Update Issues 5 (plus #4) - 10 After making a claim about issue #4's missing part, DeAgostini Japan sent a whole new issue #4 and it arrived about 2 weeks after that. That was back in early March. It took another 4 weeks to receive issues 5 - 13 though. This update is for issues 5 - 10. Ove the 5 issues the front left suspension and most of the engine have been completed. The quality of the castings and fit of the parts is quite good, it seems better than DeAgostini's BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the Fast & Furious 2 movie, which (to me anyway) doesn't seem to have as tight tolerances or quite as accurate castings.  Each issue has a lot of info about the 1989 - 1993 Skyline range and other Nissan models from that era, but the focus is on the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo and the various racing it did in Japan, Europe (Spa 24hrs) and of course Australia. I've included some text translated with Google Lens in some photos and will add to them if there's anything worth including.
    • If it's for a SR20, make sure it's not the American Poncams, might as well call them Poocams. Had a set in a friend's car, all scuffed up after a few track days. Like the metallurgy Tomei USA used is junk. Went back to JDM OG Tomei Poncams, no issues till now.   Tomei USA is not the real OG Tomei.   Random rant over, fk the US of A, bunch of c u n t s.
    • Most of the industry in North America either runs on Siemens or Allen Bradley. I have two redundant S7-1500's on my desk right next to me for simulation. Siemens has been losing ground though since Stuxnet, as cybersecurity is a big thing. In my line of work that is federally regulated, you must by law have a cybersecurity management program in place and its audited and inspected every so often.  I work with Emerson PLC's daily (RX3i's) and have done large biogas/refinery projects with their DCS's. Their PLC's are somewhat OK minus the way they do PLC redundancy (You have to download on both PLC's separately every time you make a change )  As for their DCS's... you'll be limited financially first before anything else stops you. Costs are exorbiant at roughly 10x what it would cost you to do with any other system (e.g AB PAC).  1990's, those suckers are brand new haha! Kraft-Heinz (An old client when I use to work for an ESP) still runs Siemens TI505 PLC's from the mid 80's. Ohh how I don't miss working with those... you could only do a certain number of online downloads until it's "Change" buffer would be full and you would then need to go offline to do a full download. There was no warning of when this was coming up and it generally would happen when you would go in at 2am to make changes before production -_-.
