R33 Gtr Vspec Sump Plug

Hi all,

Can someone offer an explanation for this.

I ordered a magnetic sump plug for my GTR and was told all sump plugs for skyline R33 are same

M12 x 1.25

When I went to replace it the original was much larger (maybe M20) but I didn't compare the thread size

The possibilities are that it was bored out and tapped to a bigger size,

OR that they have told me the wrong size

Can anyone confirm what the case would be

not a gearbox or diff one by mistake? sump is def M12 x 1.25

Are you guys sure a vspec has a M12 sump plug?

cant you compare it to the one removed from the sump to be replaced by this one?

otherwise likely it has been stripped at some point and recut to a larger thread size...

I've bought a few of these, fitted them to the GTSt, Aristo, Patrol in fact anything with a tin sump.

The thread is M12x1.25 and is not the GTR size, which is why I still have this one in the shed.

Not going to drop my oil just to prove a point but from memory the alloy sump thread is around M16.

I have done some more research and am very confused now

Some people are reporting same problem as me, some are not

Can anyone definitively say a vspec r33 is supposed to have an M12 x 1.25

I suppose my next step is to wait for next oil change and measure the plug
