Hello,

I am attempting to drop a GTX2863 in and i was wondering if anyone has tried this setup, or currently running it. Supporting mods will be Blitz SE FMIC, Nistune, Z32 AFM, 650cc injectors, fuel pump, 3-1/2" full jap exhaust, and a couple of other little computer bits and pieces. Stock internals, but healthy engine. I've been told around 250-290rwkw (maybe) on around 16 or so PSI, depending on tune. Before anyone asks why I'm not putting a GT3067 or something on, its because i want response, fast spool, and stock fitment. Also I can get one quite cheap, brand new installed for $1600 with everything needed to fit it.

Usually these turbos go great on a RB26 or something. Im sure one would run well, being rated for around 315rwkw.

Thanks anyone who has the time to reply, I appreciate your help.

John.

They are not rated to 315rwkw, more like 315kw at the crank. There is no straight bolt-on version that I am aware of, you'd need an aftermarket/custom kit - be that including a modified/aftermarket housings or whatever. It will most likely require a reasonable amount of custom work.

I see, well I'm assuming he has the kit or modded housing that will go straight on. Apparently this guy has sold a couple of them. I think 315kw at the crank will still be around my goal power.

Anyways. Does it sound like too much work and money for only 315kw at the crank. I could just lash out, spend another couple of hundred and buy a GT3076, or GT-RS or something similar.

At least these are tested and proven. It sounds pretty sad to say, but I've seen some pretty good GT3076 deals with hose kits and gaskets, including new exhaust manifold for around the $2k mark. (I would prefer a low mount though)

Thanks for your help.

The GTX2863 is a tinny turbo. I don't believe they can pump 315rwkws.

I made a billet 64mm and 68mm comp wheel and used them in a customized one trim larger +2mm exd turbine based on the GT28 in a .86 rear and only managed to squeeze 276rwkws out of the 64mm and 298rwkws out of the 68mm. Those are E85 results on high mount externally gated setup.

My prediction on the GTX2863 is probably 230rwkws on pump 98 if used on stock manifold internally gated only if you run it on .86 rear. They will be red hot on .64.

spend another couple of hundred and buy a GT3076, or GT-RS or something similar.

i use a gt3076 with .63 rear. its very responsive. have no issues with it, standard manifold with mild porting, internal gate. using a apexi avcr boost controller as the small rear housing causes boost spikes. boost controller fixes this. i went from a gtrs to a 3076 and for the power difference (which dosnt feel like much, no dyno run as of yet) i wish i went for the .82 housing and sacrifice response over power.

point is get a 3076 with a small housing over the gtrs. thats my 2 cents. most people frown on a small housing gt3076r on a rb. best results will require WMI or E85 and external gate.

For what you would get from a GTX2863 on an RB25 I honestly believe you would be better off with a simple 2IU highflow from Hypergear.

User feedback on the 2IU is hard to overlook, some guys have used it for serious track and hillclimb duties to great success and response is what you would want it to be.

Its just too much effort to put on a 2863 with an unknown guinea pig rear housing when under $1,000 will have your stock turbo bolt back on LIKE STOCK and make the same 250rwkw mark with awesome response too.

You did a search didn't you..... ;)

lol no?

What am I missing?

If its re the 2IU results you know the HG thread is almost my second home, I don't miss anything there. If re 'mystery housing' I actually wasn't making any assumptions, but now that you have called on my mamories I do recall there being one for sale not that long ago, but I could swear it was a 2867 in a sonic housing.. Not 2863.

Feel free to fill me in though.

You are missing nothing it was a lame attempt at humour about searching this site to find answers to questions that have been asked several times. At least this thread has brought up a new turbo combo that we haven't seen results for yet. Nevertheless for 250rwkw-ish it is hard to go past a well made hiflow exactly like you said.

Haha damn man, sorry for being so slow. Was a good call now that I've been spoon fed some IQ.

Agree, it was a quick wind down but still will solve any questions if anyone did search 2863 RB25.
