Hey guys,

So I've got a RB25DET Neo in a S14, with the McKinney mounts and everything. And I've got a brand-new GT3071r on the stock manifold, with a spacer and extended studs. Got it started up, and after it got all warmed up and up to pressure, a little oil started leaking past the oil seals on it, oil leaked exhaust and intake side, and she was smoking. I bought the turbo brand new from ATPTurbo, and am running a -4AN feed line from the block, with a restrictor on the top of the turbo. Its got a -10AN line from a 5/8barb adapter on the bottom, running to a 45degree -10AN fitting, and the stock drain location on the block. This is my first aftermarket turbo install, so im not entirely sure where to go from here. Should there be a second restrictor on the block?

Maybe the oil drain isnt draining well enough? The clearence is super tight with the mckinney engine mount. I have the turbo clocked so the oil feed and drain are completely straight up and down. Can I clock it slightly so theres more clearence to get a bigger drain line? It only seems to leak after the cars run a few minutes and warmed up, which is making me question the drain. Anyway, anyhelp would be appreciated, I can take some pics too if that'll help.

Thanks!

It sounds like it should work, I never ran an extra restrictor in mine and I have a 13mm drain on a 90 degree, right off the bottom of the turbo. If anyone's should have leaked it's mine...

Have you contacted ATP about it?

What grade oil are you using?

Pics are always helpful...

I shot an e-mail to ATP, will probably hear back from them tomorrow. I inquired to the warranty process too, as I bought that turbo brand-new from them ~6months ago, and its only seen use this week. A guy over on zilvia had a brand-new garrett 3071r leak like this on him in under 1000mi and they warrantied it out.

Im using Mobil1 5w-40. Its the turbo/diesel kind. I was told it holds up to the highheat of the RB's better.

I'll get some pics up of the set-up and the drain, etc, here asap.
