Hello everyone. I'm new and sorry if this has been covered but I did spend all yesterday arvo going through google. Any information I did find was quite old.

I'm trying to find out the current laws for putting a RB30DETT into a later model GTR, in Victoria.

Is it just the emissions I need to worry about? If so then it won't be hard for my situation. Or is there more to it with the age difference of motors or what?

I'd really like to hear from people that have actually done this in Victoria.

What do you mean by the section in red below? Do you have access to the right machine to do an ADR approved emmissions test? It's not as easy as whacking a Lambda probe in the exhaust.

Love to know if there is a way to avoid the $4000 test that needs to be carried out however.

Well because I was going to build the 26/30 and retain everything else stock. Running on E85 I couldn't see why it wouldn't pass emissions. Then when rego'd and ok I was gonna work with a engineer as I mod it.

I wasn't gonna do something dodgy/avoid 4 grand test. Just having a new slate to start with means I can go down the right road first time.

you could have a go at just swapping it over / then getting the car registered with the 'new' engine number, worked for several people I know, just that when it comes time to sell / re register the car, have another motor ready to swap over. Pain in the arse, but better than having to fork out 4k for a full emissions test that you might fail anyway....

So are you answering my question with Yes its legal to do, but need full emissions test?

I guarantee I will pass it. I'm literally increasing capacity by .4lt, running cleaner burning e85 and will wack a euro3 cat on.

This will be a long long term project. My final one as I'm in my mid 20's now.

I have been talking with Rob from RIPs about my motor.. and I'm also really trying to get the Billet RB30's started from Bullet Cylinder Heads. If I can get another 2 people to make a down payment of 5k each they will start production on them.
