What Is This Part In The Firewall?

Hi all,

I'm going to run a cable for my ECV and want to drill out this 'thing' since it will hold the cable at the right angle.

It is located next to where the speedo cable comes through the firewall and is blocked on the outside. It isn't serving a purpose as far as I can see but I'm curious to know what it is meant for - if anyone knows....

Looking up at the firewall. You can see the speedo cable entry to the left of the 'thing':

sorta looks like another throttle cable spot

think thats where the auto foot (handbrake) 'e-brake' cable slots through

Yep that's for the auto foot brake cable

Bolt that thing on upside down and it's pretty handy for running wiring and boost line into the dash from the engine bay.

The Factory manuals just have a plate that bolts into that thing's place.

Awesome - learnt something new!

Drilled it out a bit and put my ECV cable through there. Works perfectly.
