R32 Gtr Problem With Lack Of Power

Recommended Posts

Hi people

As the title says I've got a problem with lack of power with my 93 gtr, I've done some searching on this forum and found a few things which I have already done, The problem started with fuel consumption and then lack of power and not reving over 2500rpm. The things I've done to try fix the problem so far have been new o2 sensors, and just put in new nismo afm which haven't seemed to work, apart from that the car has cat back exhaust, hks panel filter and ebc set to 14. Any help with this problem would be great.

thanks

chris

The nismo AFMs I replaced my stockers with were a different internal diameter and required a retune of my power fc after installing. Wouldn't even idle, had to give it throttle while we backed it onto the dyno. Had your tune checked since installing? Because they are larger it will make your air/fuel ratio way out.

Get your tuner/shop to look into it. Don't get anything fixed but find out what's wrong and what it would cost to fix.

Could be a long list of things or a combination. Shouldn't take them more than an hour.

You've checked all you Intercooler piping for leaks/Splits or plain just no longer secured ?

Thanks for the advise I have checked the piping but might have missed something so I'll give it another going over tomorrow and as far as taking it back to the tuner I'm in Mt Isa so no tuners (that I trust anyway)

Agree that Nismo AFMs with standard ECU is a problem. Are you still making boost? Has the cat shit itself? (drop it off the front pipe an look in)

    • I think throwing the hydraulic power steering system into the trash and converting to electric power steering, e.g. Astra PS pump would solve many issues.
    • so finally had an event i was home for that didn't get rained off or otherwise cancelled to be able to actually drive the car, unfortunately was roll racing which isnt my favourite thing ever but had an awesome night with friends and testing the car out. obviously a huge difference in driving experience with the samsonas although still without flat foot upshifts the ratios are so much nicer and actually has boost into the next gear which was not something i always experienced with the stock gearbox. but of course absolutely loving the sound of the sidepipe and for its downfalls of ruining the car in ever other way it does sound awesome at the track.   had some weird issues where it would misfire in 2nd but fine in every other gear and at the end of the night at the end of the run would have no throttle until it decided it wanted to work, so will be looking into that before a proper track night coming up in just over a week to really see the changes in the car. • I think I will try out Frenchy’s power steering kit. Looks like a better solution.
    • Useless lot aren't they? Releasing stuff on the market that doesn't do what it's supposed to do without you stuffing about with it and spacing out the spacer lol. FFS.
    • Similar experience with Ross pulley. Can't recommend.
