hey fellas im doing somthing a bit different. I am building a twinturbo 3.8litre v6 ecotec commodore motor. i want to run two HKS gt 2530s but am a bit woried they will be two laggy because i will only change at around 6000-6500rpm and hope to run upto 30 psi. my compression will be around 8.0-1. And will have steampipe manifolds and ported and polished heads and a large frontmount.

i just want to no wat rpm u think they will reach full boost at. i dont want them to start boosting at 5500 lol

That 1970's motor is gonna need alot of work done to it before it will get close to handling 30psi of boost.

U making it inot a drag car?

I'm with INASNT on that one, the V6 is very weak in the crank/bottom end and will see you spending way too much money on it for probably little return, and then it will most likely be unreliable, don't even consider it, better off trasplanting another engine in-RB25,30 or VG30.

lol its no 1960 buick. Its a 99 ecotec v6 -alot beter than the old buick v6s. It has four bolt mains and im building a 3/4 of an inch steel girdle. im not to worred about it being not strong enough as i know of these same engines in the states doing 9s and 10s with similar bottom end as mine. I just think it will be to laggy as the 2.6L GTR is alot more (ve) efficent than the old pushrod 3.8. so what do you think about spool time considering (ve??)?

yes its going to be a drag car not daily driver.

holden have used the old shit box buicks since just this year when they brought out their new v6.

Volumetric efficiency for one of those is in mid 80's, an RB is in the low 90's. So 10% either way, play with the forumla

4800 X (2600 X 95%) / (3800 X 85%) = 3,650 rpm.

You bin listening to that Holden BS :bs!: The block, crank, conrods, heads, pushrods :wassup: etc were all designed in the 60's. It's not a new engine just because they stick a fancy pulley on the front and add a couple of bolts to stop the crank falling out the bottom. :throwup:

The old Buick V6 isn't as bad as everyone thinks. You guys should look up the old 80's Buick Grand National. The main problem is they are pretty ugly :D There was a guy on the OCAU forums who had a very mild modded GN, capable of 12s quarters on a pretty stock drivetrain. Unfortunately it got torched by thieves :(

This doesn't mean you can do the same thing to a Holden Ecotec without modification, which I believe changes most things other than the block compared to the American version. But I reckon if you could import a bunch of parts from America, you should be able to build a pretty tough pushrod machine.
